Outlander: Blood of My Blood Cast Tease Season 2 — Fans Aren’t Ready

There’s some wild, wild stuff. Fresh disclosures are about to blow the story wide open, rattling insiders and triggering a high-stakes scramble for answers.
Season 1 of Outlander prequel Blood of My Blood barely left the screen and the cast is already back in Scotland shooting Season 2. Yes, already. Harriet Slater, Jamie Roy, Jeremy Irvine, and Hermione Corfield are deep into it, and based on what they’re hinting, next year’s return is going bigger and messier.
Quick refresher: where things ended
- Ellen and Brian finally got together and promptly hit the road, dodging her powerful family (including the volatile Mackenzie brothers, Dougal and Colum) and the Grants.
- Meanwhile, time-traveling spouses Julia and Henry reunited, scooped up baby William, and ended the finale standing at the Craig Na Dun stones — yes, those stones — hoping to get back to the 20th century.
Season 2 is underway — and the cast is as confused as we are
The show is keeping plot turns under lock and key, but the actors did share a few eyebrow-raisers. Jeremy Irvine says Season 2 opens in a way that even he couldn’t initially explain for his character, Henry. Hermione Corfield, who plays Julia, admitted they’re already filming Episode 7 and she still has no idea what’s coming next for her character. That’s not coyness — that’s genuine confusion.
Irvine also joked about the show’s appetite for chaos and body counts, then pivoted to the good news: with all the groundwork laid in Season 1, the new episodes are less origin-story and more full-tilt drama. He even did the classic actor-on-a-press-tour double take about the production scale.
"There are some days on set where I just went, 'where did they get the budget for this?' This season, it’s gone up a level, and there’s some wild, wild stuff."
Translation: expect bigger swings, and possibly fewer safety nets.
Ellen and Brian hit a literal crossroads
The Season 1 finale basically lit the fuse on the first Jacobite Rising — those fiery crosses on the hills weren’t just for vibe, they were a call to arms. Jamie Roy says Brian’s now staring down a brutal choice: answer his Laird’s call and gear up for war, or stay with Ellen and bolt for good, maybe even leave Scotland altogether. Not exactly romantic Highlands picnic material.
Harriet Slater adds that Ellen is paying the price for her dramatic exit. She ran without so much as a spare dress, and she’s gone from a cushy, bougie setup to hiding in a hole in the ground. The sentiment from Ellen’s side is basically: worth it… but yikes.
Who might show up next
Season 1 already slipped in familiar names — Colum, Dougal, Ned Gowan, Murtagh, and even younger versions of Angus and Rupert. Naturally, fans are wondering if Season 2 starts connecting even more dots, including the big ones: Brian and Ellen’s kids, Jamie and Jenny.
Jamie Roy isn’t confirming anything, but he did toss this out there:
"Well, everyone has to be born at some point. Take that as you will!"
He also teased that he saw a certain name in a recent script that will make people lose their minds. No specifics, just enough to drive everyone slightly insane until the season airs.
