Although the main focus of the popular procedural series Blue Bloods is crime investigation, the show has always touched on philosophical, ethical, and other socially important issues.

In "The Naked Truth," an episode that just aired on March 31, the drama series raised an ethical issue that's especially relevant in today's world, both for police officers and civilians.

The episode had Frank Reagan faced with a difficult moral dilemma. It was revealed that Officer Carlie Gillson, one of the department's best employees whom Frank has always admired, was posting nude photos online. Yes, that's right — Blue Bloods' creators decided to introduce the tricky OnlyFans twist into their story, and Commissioner Frank Reagan had to decide whether he'd fire his employee or not.

Moonlighting on OnlyFans is certainly unbefitting of a police officer… But is it, really? If Frank keeps Officer Carlie employed, the NYPD will face a barrage of criticism. And if he fires her… the scandal is unavoidable.

But we know from earlier episodes that Frank has always been attentive to what his colleagues, including the younger ones, have to say on different matters. And this time, viewers appreciated the fact that he also approached his colleagues for their opinion.

"Frank asking Abigail's opinion was the right move as she raised valid points, hopefully this case has a good outcome," one of the fans noted on Twitter.

Abigail Baker told her boss that times had changed and perhaps the police department's ethical norms should be adjusted accordingly. What people do in their private free time is their business unless it affects their work in any way.

In the end, Frank decided not to fire Gillson, and fans strongly supported the decision.

"Glad Frank is so level-headed and open to progressive leadership," another Twitter user commented, admiring the Commissioner's willingness to change his views and work practices.

However, the writers decided to present the dilemma in a more subtle way, adding an important exculpatory nuance — it turns out Carlie Gillson was doing on OnlyFans to pay for her mother's pancreatic cancer treatment. And viewers seem to have liked this decision too:

"As an audience, we don't get to judge her and that's an excellent thing, IMO," another fan noted on Reddit.

Of course, Frank's final decision is still a subject of debate, and the storyline may see further development in the future episodes. And yet, fans appreciate writers' courage for tackling such a tough topic and plunging their character into this important ethical decision-making.
