Perfect Score

With an average Tomatometer rating of 100% and an audience score of 91% on Rotten Tomatoes, the fantasy musical The Sound of Magic tops a lot of Netflix's K-drama charts.

Based on the Naver webtoon Annarasumanara by Ha Il-kwon, the whimsical story stars Ji Chang-wook (Lovestruck in the City, If You Wish Upon Me) as a mysterious, eccentric magician who lives in a colorful, abandoned amusement park and Choi Sung-eun (SF8, Beyond Evil) as a troubled teenager whose biggest dream is to grow up and escape the life she hates.

When the girl meets the magician, and he helps her find her way amidst the hardships of adolescence, magic and reality intertwine. The music makes the whole story feel surreal, and the cinematography and acting are out of this world.

A Complete Story?

The Sound of Magic has six episodes that landed on Netflix on May 6, 2022. The story covers almost all the seven chapters of the original webcomic and ends on a satisfying note with some differences from the source material.

The streamer hasn't made any announcements about renewing the show, so it's safe to assume that it will remain a limited series, making The Sound of Magic a perfect binge for a cozy fall evening.
