A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, they say.

Summary

  • Season 7 of Young Sheldon has to be very fast-paced because of the writers' strike.
  • The seventh installment still shows the most important events like Georgie and Mandy's wedding.
  • As simple as it was, the ceremony had the main ingredient of happiness.

When Season 6 of Young Sheldon wrapped last May, the WGA strike was already in full swing, and many of the stars of the hit CBS comedy took to the streets of Hollywood in support of the brilliant TV writers they had worked with for years. Needless to say, viewers were anxious for the strike to end, but soon the actors' union followed suit, and most of our beloved shows were put on indefinite hold. Young Sheldon was no exception.

As a result, the seventh season of the TBBT prequel was delayed and condensed to fourteen episodes instead of twenty-two, premiering in February of this year. Given that Season 7 was supposed to be Young Sheldon's last, many fans of the sitcom found this situation depressing, as it was clear that the current installment would miss out on many important details.

Fortunately, Season 7 of Young Sheldon has proven to cover major events, one of which is Georgie and Mandy's wedding. The ceremony, which took place in Episode 7, was brief and simple, as the two characters were married by a judge at Medford Town Hall, accompanied by their families. And while it may seem too boring for such an important event, it actually served a purpose for the larger plot of YS.

A Family Event

Angry at Mary and her own mother for secretly baptizing Cece (twice), Mandy decided to have a 'spite wedding,' as Dale put it, without inviting either of them or the rest of the family. She, Georgie, Dale, Meemaw, and Cece went to the town hall only to find out that Connie had tipped off the families who had come to the wedding to be with their children. After a moment's thought, Mandy agreed to let her mother and future mother-in-law attend the ceremony, and she and Georgie quickly tied the knot with the help of the judge.

After the wedding, the Coopers and McAllisters went to an Italian restaurant for a celebratory dinner, where Mandy's parents gave the newlyweds an all-expense-paid trip to Dollywood. And that was it – no additional pomp and circumstance. Naturally, many Young Sheldon fans were disappointed with the show's approach to the wedding. But we must remember one thing!

As simple and boring as the wedding was, George got the chance to see his oldest son get married. While we don't know when or how the Cooper patriarch will die, we do know that it has to happen this season. So if Georgie and Mandy's wedding had been saved for the finale, there's a good chance George wouldn't have made it to the ceremony. And let's face it, any wedding is the best when your loved ones are there.

Episode 9 of Young Sheldon's seventh season will premiere on April 25.
