Move over, captain—when the blades come out, Roronoa Zoro steals the spotlight. From gut-wrenching sacrifices to jaw-dropping duels, the Straw Hat swordsman has delivered moments that eclipse even Luffy, cementing his legend among One Piece fans.

Zoro has spent years proving he is more than the Straw Hats' second-in-command. There are arcs where he steals Luffy's thunder entirely. If he ever picked up the right Devil Fruit, he would look a lot like Emperor material overnight. So, purely as a thought experiment, here are the powers that would supercharge Zoro without breaking what makes him Zoro.

  1. 5) Supa Supa no Mi

Type: Paramecia. Effect: turns the user's body into steel blades — arms, legs, torso, the works. Daz Bonez used it back in the Alabasta days, when Zoro figured out how to cut steel for the first time.

Why it fits: This does not replace Zoro's swords; it backs them up. If he gets disarmed or blocked, his body is still a weapon and a shield. Layer Armament Haki on top and you get an armored buzzsaw who can bully his way through close-range fights.

  2. 4) Suke Suke no Mi

Type: Paramecia. Effect: invisibility for the user and anything they touch. Absalom had it first on Thriller Bark; Shiryu ended up with the fruit after killing him.

Why it fits: Zoro lives on quick, decisive finishers. If you cannot see him or his blades coming, he gets to end fights before the other guy even winds up. Not flashy, wildly effective, very Emperor-coded.

  3. 3) Riki Riki no Mi

Type: Paramecia. Effect: absurd physical strength. Lift mountains, ragdoll opponents, brute force everything. Jesus Burgess uses it for exactly that. There are no obvious drawbacks shown so far.

Why it fits: The top tier of sword duels is part technique, part horsepower. Zoro already hits like a truck; this turns the truck into a freight train. Bigger impact per swing, easier time cracking tough defenses, clearer path to Yonko-level wins.

  4. 2) Hito Hito no Mi: Model Nika

Type: Mythical Zoan. Effect: the Sun God Nika's freedom-as-power kit — elastic creativity, wild movement, and serious durability. After awakening, it becomes Luffy's Gear 5.

Why it fits: It would make Zoro's style downright chaotic in the best way — angles you should not be able to use, limits that stop mattering. The vibe clashes a bit with his serious, swordsman-code persona, but the sheer ceiling on this fruit would let him steamroll most battlefields.

  5. 1) Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryuu

Type: Mythical Zoan. Effect: become the Azure Dragon — heavy durability, boosted strength, near-flight mobility, and elemental blasts. Kaido made it infamous; an artificial version went to Kozuki Momonosuke.

Why it fits: This is the cleanest synergy play for Zoro. Extra range, mobility, and destructive power without compromising the swords-first identity. And here is a fun deep-cut: Eiichiro Oda has said that if Zoro ever got a Devil Fruit, he would want the power housed in one of Zoro's swords. A dragon-infused blade is exactly the kind of terrifying upgrade that cements 'Emperor-level swordsman' status.
