One Piece Taps Jujutsu Kaisen Heartthrob as Shanks’ Dark Double: Meet Kenjiro Tsuda
One Piece is about to drop a bombshell. Shanks’ twin, Figarland Shamrock, makes his anime debut as commander of the Gods’ Knights, voiced by Kenjiro Tsuda.
One Piece just lined up a very recognizable voice for a very loaded reveal. If you have been waiting to meet Shanks' twin in the anime (yes, twin), you are about to hear him first: Kenjiro Tsuda is voicing Figarland Shamrock.
Who exactly is Figarland Shamrock?
Shamrock is Shanks' estranged twin brother and, unlike his pirate sibling, he grew up on the other side of the chessboard. He is the commander of the Gods' Knights, the elite force that serves the highest powers in the world.
The twins' split happened way back during the chaos at God Valley. After that rescue, Shanks ended up with the Roger Pirates. Shamrock was taken to Mary Geoise. Different upbringings, very different allegiances.
Shamrock is positioned as an antagonist in the upcoming Elbaph arc and is set to fight on behalf of Imu, the secret sovereign perched at the top of the World Government. Anime-wise, the Elbaph arc is slated to premiere in April 2026. Not tomorrow, but it is officially on the calendar.
The casting: where the reveal came from
The official One Piece YouTube channel posted a promo video tied to manga volume 113, and tucked into that preview was the reveal: Kenjiro Tsuda is voicing Shamrock. This is not Tsuda's first trip to the Grand Line, either. He already voices Vinsmoke Yonji, Sanji's younger brother. Long-running anime reusing great actors for multiple roles is very normal, and One Piece is about as long-running as it gets.
Different twins, different voices
Fans did a double take that Shanks and Shamrock do not share a voice actor, given the whole twin thing. But honestly, it makes sense. Shamrock looks like Shanks but is built to be a very different presence: colder, establishment, and aligned with literal gods. Tsuda can lean into that contrast and give the character his own edge.
Kenjiro Tsuda 101
Tsuda's a veteran with that deep, rumbling delivery that instantly sells competence, menace, or both. He has bounced between cool-headed leads and unnerving villains across anime, games, and even live-action projects. If you have heard Nanami in Jujutsu Kaisen, you already know why people are excited.
- Jujutsu Kaisen: Nanami
- The Way of the Househusband: Tatsu
- Golden Kamuy: Ogata
- My Hero Academia: Kai
- Chainsaw Man: Kishibe
- Beyblade: Ryuga
- Free!: Seijuro
- To Your Eternity: The Beholder
- Fire Force: Joker
- Gangsta: Nicolas
What to expect next
Shamrock's anime debut is tied to Elbaph, so the big entrance lines up with that arc's rollout in April 2026. Until then, the tease is out there, and Tsuda's casting has already kicked up a lot of buzz for a character who mirrors Shanks' face but not his ideals.
One Piece is streaming on Crunchyroll, if you want to catch up before the Giants come calling.
