And the fans are not happy.

With the ongoing writers' and actors' strikes, it is not yet clear when FBI: Most Wanted will return to CBS with Season 5. But when it does, FBI Special Agent Kristin Gaines won't be there.

Alexa Davalos, the actress who played Gaines, reportedly exited the show after the Season 4 finale, though nothing in her character's arc indicated it. Kristin joined the FBI's Fugitive Task Force in the Season 3 episode 'Patriots,' replacing Kellan Lutz's Kenny Crosby, who decided to leave after being seriously injured.

Agent Gaines had some promising storylines last season involving her ex-husband and children, but that all came to nothing in the season finale. And now fans are shocked by the news of Davalos' departure, which probably came as a surprise even to the actress herself.

Deadline reports that Davalos was informed of the end of her tenure on the project after shooting her final scene for Season 4. Not a nice way to part ways with an employee, right? While sources say the conversation was civil, fans are sure there's a bigger story here about what is happening on set. And they are not happy about the cast changes.

People took to social media to express their discontent with the decision to get rid of the interesting, dynamic female character. Many noted that Kristin Gaines was their favorite, and they had no reason to watch the show without her.

'The end of the series for me if she's not here anymore,' a fan commented on Twitter, adding the broken heart emoji. 'She was everything.'

Alexa Davalos is not the first actress to leave the FBI universe unexpectedly. Let's face it, FBI: Most Wanted has lost too many cast members in its four seasons on the air. With such turnover, how can viewers even connect to characters?

'Of course we lose another one! Make this number 6 to leave,' an annoyed fan wrote. 'And just as the storyline for their character was really being built. She had so much potential.'

Looks like Wolf Entertainment needs to reconsider its employee policies if it wants to maintain the audience loyalty and high ratings of the FBI franchise.
