There seems to be more drama and comedy to come.

The first three episodes of Our Flag Means Death Season 2 immediately swept us into a maelstrom of sentimentality that's more turbulent than a pirate vessel in a bad storm. So far, OFMD has nailed every romance in the series, beautifully representing what pop culture has shied away from — a positive and (well, somewhat) healthy story of queer romance.

But even the highest-quality romance story can't be compelling without its share of conflict. And that's the element that seems to be looming in the upcoming episodes. Apparently, we're going to get Ed's best incarnation — his jealous side. Temper your boyfriend, Stede!

The story so far

While the Gentleman Pirate and his crew of misfits were searching for the Revenge, darkness had finally overtaken Edward, who was grieving the separation from his lover: raids and excessive violence, death threats to his own crew and a generally toxic environment led Izzy, Jim, Archie, Fang and Frenchie to mutiny, nearly killing Edward.

Ed's still got to get his act together after being found unconscious by Stede and finally waking up. Not only physically, but mentally as well: he has yet to accept that he is loved, which is no easy task as Stede gains more and more pirate authority, respect and acquaintances.

New promo

Already on Thursday, October 12, two new episodes will be released, which will certainly develop the dynamic between Stede and Ed. Accordingly, the official Instagram account of the series has released an exciting new promo.

In the clip, we see not only new comedic misadventures by the Revenge crew, but also the introduction of a new character — one of the few female pirates in the recorded history of western piracy, Anne Bonny, played by Minnie Driver.

More jealousy, more drama!

Despite Taika Waititi's character's attempts to suppress his emotions, he doesn't succeed very well. Especially when he has already lost a loved one once.

'Eddie was crazy to let you go,' Bonny said cryptically in the clip. Anne had a history with Blackbeard, and from the looks of it, this could be a new source of conflict. Anne will be accompanied by Mary Read (Rachel House), but the nature of their relationship is not yet known. However, it can be assumed that 'Eddie' is jealous of Anne's interest in Stede.

The 'rift' between the old lovers was also noticed by the crew after Ed accidentally hit Stede in the eye upon awakening. 'That's what they all say,' concerned Roach replied, when Stede made excuses that it was an accident.

Episodes 4 and 5 will be released on October 12 on Max.
