Well, this is awkward.

If you were planning to hit the official Fallout season 1 recap on Prime Video before season 2 drops, maybe... don't. It uses an AI voiceover and fumbles some pretty basic stuff about the show. Yes, on Prime's own page for season 2.

The recap problem (and why it matters)

Viewers on Reddit and Twitter flagged it, and GamesRadar+ double-checked: the recap video on the Fallout season 2 landing page is narrated by AI and gets key details wrong. Not nitpicks. Foundational things.

  • It says Cooper Howard's flashbacks take place in the 1950s. They don't. The pre-war sequences are set in 2077. The aesthetic is retro-futurist, so it looks mid-century, but that's the point of Fallout's vibe, not the timeline.
  • It reframes The Ghoul's season 1 finale deal with Lucy as a "join or die" choice, as if he's threatening to kill her. That's not what happens. He offers a team-up to track down the man "behind the wheel" in New Vegas.

So yeah, if you need a refresher, you're better off rewatching season 1 the old-fashioned way. Handy bonus: it's currently free if you own a Samsung smart TV.

What season 2 is actually doing

The new season is leaning even harder into practical builds. We're talking big, physical New Vegas sets as the show's heroes and villains make their way onto the Strip. The creative team wants the return to that 2010 Fallout: New Vegas location to feel like the real thing.

"It's going back to authenticity," Bethesda director Todd Howard told GamesRadar+. "What would we want to see as a fan? Make it as authentic as possible and come at it with a lot of thought, a lot of love, but also take some swings."

One smart call: season 2 won't lock in any single Fallout: New Vegas ending as canon. That way, nobody's playthrough gets invalidated — yes, even if you rode with the NCR.

When to watch

Fallout season 2 premieres December 17. If you want to do homework, there are plenty of fan-made season 2 timelines and best-Fallout-games rankings out there, but the main thing is this: skip that AI recap and dive back into season 1 yourself. It's quicker than unlearning bad info.
