October 31 Spells Bad News for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Fans
Halloween hits harder for Jujutsu Kaisen fans: October 31 marks the day the Shibuya Incident ignited in 2018 and Satoru Gojo was sealed — a gut-punch the fandom still hasn’t shaken.
Halloween means cheap candy and goofy costumes for most people. For Jujutsu Kaisen fans, October 31 is something else entirely: the day the Shibuya Incident kicked off and everything went off a cliff.
"October 31, 2018: the Shibuya Incident begins, and Gojo gets sealed."
Quick refresher: what actually went down in Shibuya
The setup was massive. Curses and sorcerers teamed up to trap civilians under a giant curtain in Shibuya. Gojo rolled in, did the Gojo thing, and erased hundreds of transfigured humans like it was nothing. Then came the swerve: he was tricked and sealed inside the Prison Realm by Geto — or rather Kenjaku wearing Geto like a suit. That one move knocked out the series’ biggest piece and blew up the power balance overnight.
Once Gojo was sealed, everything spiraled. Mahito, Jogo, Choso, and Hanami went on a tear. Yuji, Nanami, Megumi, and Nobara got swarmed. Nanami was burned brutally. Nobara faced Mahito and ended up catastrophically injured, with her fate left hanging. Watching that, Yuji broke down hard.
It got worse. Sukuna took over Yuji’s body and casually erased half of Shibuya. Even Jogo, a curse built up as a serious threat, got deleted by Sukuna like it was a warm-up exercise. By the time the smoke cleared, the city was wrecked. Megumi barely lived after summoning Mahoraga. Toji popped back from the dead for a brief, ridiculous showcase and then exited just as fast. And Kenjaku finally pulled off the mask, revealing his identity after taking over Geto’s body and rounding up the remaining sorcerers.
Why this arc changed the series for good
The Shibuya Incident wasn’t just a big fight arc; it flipped the table. The people who felt untouchable — Gojo, Nanami, even Nobara — ended up sealed, gone, or out of action. Kenjaku proved he’s been orchestrating way more than anyone guessed, and his plan is clearly bigger than one city or one night.
The fallout hits Yuji the hardest. Instead of teaming up with other sorcerers, he becomes a target. The show’s earlier high school vibe? Pretty much dead. From here on out it’s new sorcerers, nastier threats, and a much harsher reality — especially for anime-only viewers waiting on Season 3.
