A Monster in Paris is the third animated film by French director Bibo Bergeron, known for his work on The Road to El Dorado and Shark Tale. The movie was produced by Luc Besson, who likes to experiment with genres.

When Saoirse turns six, the family learns that she is also a Selkie, and the terrified father sends the children away from the lighthouse to live with their grandmother in the city.

But Ben longs to return home, and Saoirse is drawn to the call of the sea, so the brother and sister set out on an adventure to find themselves.
