Noah Schnapp is Having the Time of His Life at His First Pride
The actor is happy to be himself in public.
This month, New York City held its annual Pride, more than 50 years after the first march in 1970, following the infamous Stonewall uprising of 1969 that erupted spontaneously after a police raid on the Stonewall Inn. Now, people attend with both political motivations, to protest discriminatory legislation, and to feel a sense of community involvement and to enjoy the moment.
And now, six months after coming out, 18-year-old Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp also attended the New York event, a first for him. We learned of his presence at Pride after he and his mom shared photos on their social media pages. And frankly, we can't think of a happier person than Noah!
On 26 June, Noah Schnapp, who plays the fan-favourite role of Will Byers, posted a series of photos on his Instagram page, captioned 'First pride,' all showcasing his happy moments as the shining star of not only the Duffer Brothers series, but also New York Pride, which was held on Sunday, 25 June.
Accompanied by his mother, Karine Schnapp, who was also dressed for Pride, his bright and cheerful photos were appreciated by his Instagram followers, and fans on Reddit.
'When I see pictures like this it really just baffles my mind that homophobia even exists. How could anyone see someone this happy, this free, this genuine, and think "this isn't good for society,"' a Redditor commented
Noah came out on his TikTok account on 5 January 5, sharing that after 18 years of living as a closeted gay, his friends and family have been nothing but supportive, which has made him extremely happy.

'This is so heartwarming. I'm so happy for him. I remember when he came out on TikTok with the caption, "I guess I'm more similar to Will than I thought." Playing Will must mean so much to him,' another fan noted on Reddit.
In the second part of Stranger Things' fourth season, Will's somewhat cryptic monologue about Mike led many to speculate about the character's sexuality, as his words clearly hinted that Will had romantic feelings for his friend, which Noah himself confirmed after the season was released. But apparently, he didn't realise how close his relationship was with the character in terms of similar experiences (no, hopefully the actor wasn't in Upside Down) until after coming out.
