No More Drama? Glee's Lea Michele & Darren Criss Reunite for Carpool Karaoke

Can you believe it's been eight years since the Glee finale aired? In its six-year run, the musical dramedy saw a multitude of behind-the-scenes dramas, including diva behaviour, rumours, in-fighting, and more. The biggest scandal involved Lea Michele, the show's star headlining the show as the lead soloist Rachel Berry.
While Glee was still on the air, the infamous feud between Lea and Naya Rivera, who portrayed the Latina cheerleader Santana Lopez, made many headlines. And in 2020, a number of former co-stars, starting with Samantha Marie Ware, who played glee club member Jane Hayward in Season 6, accused Lea of abusive behaviour on set.
'Was she unpleasant to work with? Very much so. For Lea to treat others with the disrespect that she did for as long as she did, I believe she SHOULD be called out,' Heather Morris, who played the ditzy cheerleader Brittany Pierce, wrote on her Twitter account, with her post then getting comments from other Glee co-stars.
As a result of the scandal, Michele was compelled to issue a public apology and lost several business deals. But that didn't stop her from releasing a cover album, Forever: A Lullaby Album, a year later and returning to Broadway in 2022 to a standing ovation. Moreover, the actress-singer has maintained a warm relationship with some of her former co-stars, especially Darren Criss, who played Blaine Anderson.
In their most recent outing, the actors and longtime friends reunited to drive around New York City and sing along as part of Season 6 of Carpool Karaoke: The Series, which debuts on Apple TV+ on 23 June. In the teaser promotional video for the episode, which is sure to please any Gleek out there and shared by People, Michele and Criss can be seen singing along to the Glee cast's cover of Meat Loaf's Paradise by the Dashboard Light, one of the show's fan-favourite tracks.
As Lea sings along to her part of the cover, her voice blends seamlessly with her own vocals from 2012, proving that she is still as talented a singer as ever. It isn't Lea and Darren's first Carpool Karaoke: The Series episode together. Fans were treated to the pair's reunion on the December 2022 episode of the show, where they sang some holiday songs.
The new reunion episode promises to be just as enjoyable and will hopefully help Gleeks forget about the behind-the-scenes drama of the past.
