Ninja Gaiden 4 is closing in, and we’re ready to smoke-bomb into the shadows and carve through the trophy list like a final boss. Trophy hunters, sharpen your blades—this guide shows how to conquer every achievement on the path to platinum.

If you have ever rage-paused a controller thanks to Ninja Gaiden, good news: the series is back to test your patience and your thumbs. Ninja Gaiden 4 is nearly here, it has a new lead, some wild new blood magic, and yes, a full trophy list that wants your time, your focus, and probably your sanity. Let’s break it all down, then I’ll hand you the shopping list of trophies so you can start plotting the platinum.

Release date, platforms, and who is making this thing

Ninja Gaiden 4 launches October 21, 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows. Team NINJA is co-developing it with PlatinumGames, which is a fascinating pairing if you like your action slick, stylish, and a little mean. Think Bayonetta-speed decisions with old-school Ninja Gaiden cruelty.

Story setup: new hero, rotten Tokyo

The game centers on Yakumo of the Raven ninja clan, stepping in as the new protagonist. We are in a corrupted Tokyo, post-Ninja Gaiden 3, after something called the Rain of Darkrot turns the city into a vertical nightmare. The lore also loops in the Dark Dragon, the big bad from Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword, so the series is stitching its timeline together in ways longtime fans will clock immediately. If that sounds a bit tangled, the short version is: new hero, cursed city, old evils resurfacing.

How it plays: bloodcraft, classic finishers, and fast traversal

Yakumo can enter Bloodraven Form, a technique that literally weaponizes blood — his and his enemies’ — to forge brutal, sweeping attacks that chew through crowds. Obliteration Techniques return too, those wonderfully nasty finishers you trigger on weakened enemies. Traversal gets a big upgrade with wall-running and a ninja-grappling hook, which should make climbing through a stacked, vertical Tokyo feel fluid instead of fussy. With PlatinumGames helping out, expect more pop and momentum in the combat than the series has had in a while.

Difficulty options (and the one that will ruin your week)

Ninja Gaiden’s reputation for pain is intact, but there is some flexibility. Team NINJA spelled out the modes — Hero, Normal, and Hard can be switched at will, while Master Ninja locks you in and shows no mercy.

"Yes #NINJAGAIDEN4 has several difficulty settings.

Hero mode - Learn your ninja powers and enjoy the story
Normal - The true path of a ninja
Hard - Adversity awaits
All 3 modes can be changed any time.
Master Ninja - No mercy. No switching. Git gud kid."

- Team NINJA, Oct 9, 2025
