Nicolas Cage reunites with Con Air director Simon West for Fortitude, a WWII spy action-adventure about an audacious British intelligence ruse that duped Nazi leaders and helped change the course of the war, with Alice Eve and a stacked ensemble along for the mission.

Nicolas Cage is getting the band back together with Con Air director Simon West for a World War II spy action-adventure called Fortitude. It is based on the very real, very audacious British deception game that messed with Nazi intel and helped change the course of the war. Cameras are already rolling in London, and the cast is stacked.

What Fortitude is actually about

This one digs into the true story of how British intelligence used trickery on an industrial scale: phantom armies, fake equipment, and a spiderweb of double agents designed to steer Nazi decision-making in all the wrong directions. The film zeroes in on two key architects of these mind games, British Army officers Dudley Clarke and Thomas Argyll 'TAR' Robertson. If the name Dusko Popov rings a bell, it should: the Yugoslav playboy turned double agent who helped set the template for James Bond is part of this story too. Historian Joshua Levine (Dunkirk, Blitz) is advising to keep the details straight.

The cast (it is a lot)

  • Nicolas Cage
  • Matthew Goode (The Imitation Game)
  • Ed Skrein (Jurassic World: Rebirth)
  • Alice Eve (Star Trek Into Darkness)
  • Michael Sheen (Frost/Nixon)
  • Jordi Molla (Mobland)
  • Art Malik (True Lies)
  • Lukas Haas (Inception)
  • Adrian Topol (Franz + Polina)
  • Emilio Sakraya (Sixty Minutes)
  • Paul Anderson (Peaky Blinders)
  • Ben Kingsley (Gandhi)

Who is making it

Simon West is directing from a script by Simon Afram (Lear Rex, Wilde Salome). Producing are Afram, Georgette Turner (Edge of Tomorrow, Wonder Woman), Reza Roohi (ATL Hustle), and Edward Kahl (Queen of Manhattan). Bianca Goodloe and David Scaramanga are on board as executive producers.

'We are excited to bring together such a remarkable ensemble. Their chemistry and depth, paired with West's direction, elevate this story into something truly gripping and unforgettable,' Afram said.

Why this could be fun

West and Cage reuniting is already a hook, but the subject matter is the real juice: deception ops that were so bold they basically turned wartime misinformation into blockbuster-worthy spectacle. Toss in the real spy who helped inspire Bond, and you have a story that is both history-nerd catnip and a crowd-pleasing setup. Production is underway now in London, so expect more pieces of the puzzle to fall into place soon.
