Nicola & Luke Are Biggest #Polin Shippers; Here's Yet Another Proof
When Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton signed on to star in the new Netflix and Shondaland joint project, they probably didn't anticipate that the show would garner such a massive fan base.
Only two seasons in, and the Bridgerton fandom is one of the largest and most dedicated ever. What's more, each titular couple has millions of fans who ship them hard.
In anticipation of the third season, its main couple, Coughlan's Penelope Featherington and Newton's Colin Bridgerton, aka Polin, are getting even more attention from fans. It seems that everyone ships Polin — and Nicola and Luke are certainly the captains of this ship.
This week is pretty special for all Polin shippers — fans have declared the week from April 3 to April 9 as Polin Week, where they will share fanfiction, art, clips, and other creative works celebrating the love between Colin and Penelope.
These dates were not chosen at random: Julia Quinn's book centering around Polin has the exact date when Penelope met and fell in love with Colin. It happened two days before she turned 16, that is, on April 6, 1812.
So what better week could there be to celebrate these two beloved characters and their love for each other than the first week of April? Apparently, Coughlan and Newton are in tune with the audience's feelings. The two actors kicked off Colin Week with a post that sent fans into a frenzy.
When Netflix's official Instagram account posted a picture of the stars and congratulations to all fans on Polin Week, Nicola and Luke proved once again that they're the biggest Polin shippers. Luke was quick to like the post, and Nicola commented with the hashtag #PolinForever.
More than that, both actors reposted the picture in their stories.
People were over the moon when they found out that the actors had embraced the fan-created Polin Week. Of course, this isn't the first time Nicola and Luke have ignited the fandom with their photos together and dedicated Polin posts and comments. And as the wait for the third season continues to drag on beyond expectations, every new piece of Polin content feels like a treat for desperate fans.
