Nicola Coughlan Learned She Was Lady Whistledown Before Season 1 Began Production
'I found out in a super-professional way. I found out on a Reddit fan forum. Because I googled it. I googled it and then I arrived [on] day one and was like, "This is amazing! Am I her? Is that me? Do I get to?.." And they were like, "Yeah, it's you." And then I proceeded to tell everyone, so it was a surprise for nobody on the cast because I wouldn't stop talking about it,' Nicola Coghlan recently said about how she discovered she was Lady Whistledown.
On Bridgerton, Lady Whistledown is voiced by Julie Andrews, the actress behind Mary Poppins and Maria in The Sound of Music, as well as many other memorable characters. LW's every new column, as well as every announcement of new Bridgerton seasons, is read by the legendary actress, adding charm to the period drama. And she's definitely an integral part of Lady Whistledown's identity, which Nicola Coughlan acknowledges.
'Technically, I job-share with Julie Andrews. If someone doesn't know who I am, I'm like, "Me and Julie, we split the work,"' the actress added, referring to the Oscar-winning legend.

Season 2 of Bridgerton ended on a low note when Eloise found out that her best friend was Lady Whistledown, who often criticized and gossiped about the Bridgertons. As a result, there was a major falling out between the two characters. And now it is one of the main storylines of Season 3, which focuses on Pen's romance with Colin and the development of her relationship with Eloise.
Part 2 of Bridgerton's third season will be released on June 13.
