Ray J claims Kim Kardashian paid him $6 million in 2023 to keep quiet about their sex tape, flashing what he said were legal documents during a Twitch livestream. The bombshell allegation hits as Kardashian faces fresh scrutiny.

Because nothing in Kardashian-land is ever quiet for long: Ray J just went on Twitch and claimed Kim Kardashian paid him $6 million in 2023 to keep him from talking about their infamous 2007 sex tape. He flashed what he said were legal docs to prove it, did it in front of a massive live audience, and the clips are already bouncing around X. All of this dropped while Kim and Kris Jenner are suing him for defamation over separate racketeering chatter. Subtle timing? Not really.

The new $6 million claim, live and messy

On an Oct. 2, 2025 Twitch stream, Ray J said Kim essentially bought his silence with a 2023 payout to stop him from discussing the tape. He showed viewers what he described as paperwork backing that up. A clip from the stream quickly circulated on X via @FearedBuck.

He also framed their dynamic as him being kept under her thumb and accused Kim of leaning on power and fame to shut him up. Then he went further, charging that she is harming the Black community and promising that this is just the beginning of a bigger reveal.

"America deserves to know."

Meanwhile, Kim and Kris take him to court

Separate from the hush-money talk, Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner have filed a defamation suit in Los Angeles Superior Court, saying Ray J fabricated claims about a federal RICO case targeting their family. For anyone not living on Law & Order reruns, RICO is a heavy-duty racketeering law typically used for organized crime, not celebrity feuds.

The suit points to two recent moments from Ray J:

  • May: In a TMZ special, he suggested that if someone told him the Kardashians were being hit with racketeering charges, he would believe it.
  • Sept. 30: On a livestream, he touted that a federal RICO case against Kim and Kris was coming and said the feds were on the way.

Kim and Kris say there is no federal investigation and that Ray J has brought zero receipts for any of those claims. In their filing, they paint this as a years-long pattern and argue he is deliberately pushing lies to stay in the spotlight. They want damages for the reputational and financial fallout.

The tape that launched an empire (and never stopped haunting it)

Kim has long said the 2007 tape with then-boyfriend Ray J was leaked without her sign-off. Ray J tells a very different story. In a later interview, he alleged Kris Jenner orchestrated the release and even picked the version that went out. He has said they each got around $400,000 up front from the deal, and industry broker Kevin Blatt once estimated Kim may have ultimately made as much as $20 million off the tape’s success.

Kim has spent the last decade-plus building SKIMS, SKKN, and Skky Partners while trying to scrub that chapter from the brand. Ray J, meanwhile, has claimed there are more tapes, saying Kim kept them in a shoebox and that Kanye West retrieved one during their marriage. Kim’s reps told TMZ there is no second, new tape.

So is the $6 million payoff real?

That is the question. If the documents Ray J waved around check out, it will blow open an old story Kim has worked very hard to close. If they don’t, he is handing Kim and Kris a stronger case that he is making things up for attention. The suit says there is no federal RICO action and that he has shown no evidence to the contrary, which is a problem if he keeps teasing a government case that doesn’t exist.

Quick timeline, because this got tangled fast

Here is how the latest round shook out:

  • 2023: Ray J says Kim paid him $6 million to keep quiet about the tape.
  • May 2025: He floats the idea on TV that racketeering charges against the Kardashians would not surprise him.
  • Sept. 30, 2025: He livestreams that a federal RICO case against Kim and Kris is coming.
  • Recently: Kim and Kris file a defamation suit in Los Angeles, saying there is no RICO case and accusing him of a calculated smear campaign.
  • Oct. 2, 2025: On Twitch, he claims the $6 million hush payment, waves supposed documents, and says more is coming; clips spread on X.

Bottom line: Either Ray J just pulled the pin on a grenade with proof attached, or he is playing a very dangerous game with his own credibility. As always with this saga, the next chapter will be louder than the last.
