This project about death, illness and self-knowledge will definitely touch the strings of your soul.

The series Dying for Sex has been released on Hulu. According to the plot, a woman with cancer discovers her sexuality, heals injuries and says goodbye to loved ones.

We tell you how the show's creators managed to turn a tear-jerking story into a funny dramedy about the importance of getting in touch with your desires.

What Is Dying Fox Sex About?

40-year-old Molly has terminal cancer, a breast tumor that has metastasized to her bones. It's time to start living. She runs away from her husband to meet sexual adventures. Meanwhile, all responsibility for the woman's health falls on the shoulders of her best friend, Nikki, an eccentric actress.

As Nikki loses her former optimism, boyfriend and job, and selflessly helps her friend sort out the chaos at the hospital, Molly explores herself. But physical pain and a terrible childhood trauma prevent her from fully living in the moment.

Dying For Sex Is Based on a Real Story

The series is based on the true story of Molly Kochan. The woman battled cancer and the stigma of a sick body – broken, but still entitled to intimacy.

In 2019, the woman died. In 2020, her friend Nikki Boyer released their joint podcast, Dying for Sex, in which Molly openly described scenes from her sexual odyssey, shared her feelings, and talked about the difficult course of the disease.

Dying For Sex Is a Multifaceted Work

Over the course of eight episodes, the show's creators gently wipe away the women's and viewers' tears, changing the tone of the scene from heartbreaking to cozy or absurdly funny, from real to dreamlike, mixing elements of hallucinations, fears, and the woman's dreams into the visible world.

The eccentric hospice nurse is responsible for the series' talk about death and its acceptance, describing the process of dying as an attraction full of exciting twists and turns.

And Molly is close to it: her serious illness did not prevent her from a breathtaking adventure full of emotions, love, friendship and sensual experiences.

Dying For Sex Is a Touching, Funny And Important Show

The show's look at illness and death through the prism of female sexuality removes the stigma from taboo subjects and offers valuable tools for accepting oneself, one's loved ones, and the most horrible things.

Dying for Sex is a passionate and moving series that plays with sharp contrasts. Bitterness, trauma, fear of death and loss are replaced by humor on the edge, awkward and tender touches.
