Netflix has cast South Korean standout Lomon of All of Us Are Dead and Revenge of Others as the werewolf lead in Beauty in the Beast, a role primed for a Twilight-style breakout.

Netflix is leaning into a supernatural campus romance, and yes, there is a werewolf. Lomon (aka Park Solomon), the breakout from 'All of Us Are Dead' and 'Revenge of Others,' just signed on to 'Beauty in the Beast' — a fantasy romance that sounds like a modern spin on 'Beauty and the Beast' with a dash of 'Twilight' werewolf energy.

The setup

Lomon is playing Lee Do-ha, one of the last werewolves left on Earth. He keeps to himself, lives off the grid, and only lets the claws out when he is hunting drug dealers. It is a very specific moral code, and a pretty fun character hook.

The actual lead is Ha Min-soo, a friendly freshman who also happens to be a werewolf. She loves people, she has managed not to hurt anyone, and she still transforms on full moons or when she loses her temper. Things get complicated when she catches feelings for her upperclassman Kwon Hae-jun, which turns the whole thing into a secret-keeping, identity-at-risk romance. NamuWiki even describes the show as a modern version of 'Beauty and the Beast,' which tracks.

"Beauty in the Beast is the love story of Ha Min-soo, a woman who becomes beastly when she gets angry, Kwon Hae-joon, a man with a neat appearance and the impression of a large dog who hides his anger, and Lee Do-ha, one of the few werewolves left on Earth."

Quick aside: that 'big dog' vibe for Hae-jun (sometimes romanized Hae-joon) is doing a lot of character work in one line.

Who is playing who, and who is making it

  • Kim Min-joo plays Ha Min-soo, the freshman werewolf lead (Netflix announced her casting alongside the series reveal).
  • Moon Sang-min ('My Name') is Kwon Hae-jun, the clean-cut senior with golden-retriever energy who keeps his anger buried.
  • Lomon ('All of Us Are Dead,' 'Revenge of Others') is Lee Do-ha, a solitary werewolf who targets drug dealers — and, yes, the Taylor Lautner comparisons are right there.
  • Writer: Jin Han-sae.
  • Director: Jin Hyuk, the hitmaker behind 'Legend of the Blue Sea' and 'Master's Sun.'
  • Title status: 'Beauty in the Beast' is the current working title, so it could change.
  • Release: It is a Netflix original, but there is no premiere date yet.

Bottom line: a campus romance with a female werewolf lead, a loner werewolf wildcard, and a senior who reads like a very polite golden retriever. Weird in a good way, and potentially very fun if it leans into the creature-feature rules and the messy love triangle.
