With NCIS: Tony & Ziva hurtling toward its Season 1 finale on Paramount+, the show’s fate is still under wraps—will Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David return for Season 2, or does the mission end here?

Quick check-in on the newest NCIS offshoot: Tony & Ziva is barreling toward its Season 1 finish on Paramount+ this month, and fans are already trying to read tea leaves about a Season 2. Short version: there is no decision yet.

So... is Season 2 happening?

As of now, neither Paramount+ nor the team behind the show has announced a renewal or a cancellation. The leads and the showrunner have all politely refused to tip their hand, which means we wait for an official call from the folks at Paramount and CBS.

In a chat with TV Insider, Cote de Pablo kept expectations measured and pretty honest:

"I think we'd be lucky to play these characters for - look, I'll say this: Season 1 was like a dream. It was so much fun to go back and revisit these characters. Where this goes, we know not."

Showrunner John McNamara, meanwhile, is playing the long game. He is focused on landing Season 1 with as much impact as possible and made it clear the future ultimately comes down to audience response and the decision-makers at Paramount and CBS. Translation: finish strong now, talk renewal later.

Why people think Season 2 could happen

De Pablo has already teased the possibility of a Gibbs appearance if the show gets another round. That little nugget alone is keeping hope alive, even if it is not confirmation of anything.

Season 1 in a nutshell

  • It leans hard into the personal stakes: Tony DiNozzo left NCIS to raise Tali after Ziva was believed dead, and both of them have been fighting their own battles and making some big, life-changing calls.
  • Surprise: Ziva is alive. She finishes one last mission and reconnects with Tony and Tali in Paris.
  • The reunion does not stay cozy for long. Tony's security firm gets hit, and the family is suddenly on the move across Europe trying to figure out who is targeting them.
  • Along the way, it is a lot of family reunions, left-field reveals, and the three of them rebuilding trust under fire.

Bottom line: Season 1 wraps this month on Paramount+. If you are waiting on a green light for Season 2, you are not alone. The cast is game, the showrunner is focused, and the call rests with Paramount and CBS. When they decide, we will hear it fast.
