Mystery Inc. Assembles: Netflix Unmasks the Full Cast for Live-Action Scooby-Doo
Netflix has unmasked the full Mystery Inc. cast for its live-action Scooby-Doo series, a Hanna-Barbera revival from Midnight Radio, Berlanti Productions, and Warner Bros. Television.
Netflix has been quietly building a live-action Scooby-Doo, and now the gang is finally taking shape. Mystery Inc. is cast, the setup is a little spooky, and yes — it all starts with a puppy.
Who is making this thing?
The series comes from Midnight Radio, Berlanti Productions, and Warner Bros. Television, with Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg running the show. It is based on the classic Hanna-Barbera characters. Last month, Mckenna Grace locked in as Daphne Blake; now the rest of the core team is official.
Mystery Inc., assembled
- Mckenna Grace as Daphne Blake — announced last month
- Tanner Hagen as Shaggy Rogers — appeared in an episode of the first season of HBO's The Pitt
- Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma Dinkley — played young Cassie Lang in Ant-Man (2015) and Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018); also starred in A Dog's Journey (2019), Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret (2023), and Carousel (2026); appeared in the first season of The Pitt
- Maxwell Jenkins as Fred Jones — Will Robinson on Netflix's Lost in Space; also seen in Reacher and The Bondsman
So what is this version?
It is an origin story that follows how the teens first team up. Old friends Shaggy and Daphne are spending their last summer at camp when they stumble into a genuinely eerie case tied to a Great Dane puppy. The show pairs them with Velma, a hyper-practical local who leads with science, and Fred, the new kid who is equal parts odd and distractingly handsome. The mystery drags each of them into nightmares and threatens to spill their secrets — which is a nice, pulpy way to kick off a first case.
"...a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have witnessed a supernatural murder."
Yes, the puppy might be a witness. Smart call.
When can we watch it?
No premiere date yet. As soon as Netflix plants a flag, I will too.
