Most Romantic Polin Book Scene Confirmed for Bridgerton Season 3
Like lost hikers in the desert, Bridgerton fans are thirsty, tired, and desperate for any sign of life.
Luckily, we're starting to see some encouraging hints that the wait for Season 3 might be coming to an end.
Shondaland has been extremely stingy with details about this upcoming season, even though filming wrapped in May 2023. However, a handful of production photos were released last week, and the Bridgerton cast has started to drop some hints about what we can expect from the hotly anticipated new episodes.
What we have known for a while is that S3 will focus on the friends-to-lovers romance of Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton). Last season saw Penelope beginning to believe that Colin might see her as something more than a pal… only to have her hopes dashed when she heard him scoffing about her to a nasty group of Regency BrosTM.
Like Romancing Mr. Bridgerton, the novel on which Season 3 is based, Penelope and Colin (aka Polin) will now have to negotiate their way through Penelope's sense of betrayal along with her secret life as Lady Whistledown. This journey will most likely be helped along by the fact that Colin has continued his travels and returned to London as an older, more mature version of himself. Fans are looking forward to the two pairing up, hopefully with the signature Bridgerton cocktail of soapy drama, sexy romps, and romance.
Recently a fan asked Coughlan what her favorite scene from Romancing Mr. Bridgerton was. The actress responded that the following dialogue from the book takes the cake for her, because the romantic language translated to the screen so well:
[Colin] took her hand and squeezed.
'Do I look like a mess?' [Penelope] asked.
He nodded. 'But you're my mess,' he whispered.
This romantic hint, paired with Colin's swashbuckling new look (great hair, Colin!), is leaving fans hopeful that any doubts about the couple can be overcome. Not only that, but Coughlin has also hinted that Season 3's super steamy scenes might involve one of the book's most beloved and sexiest props – a mirror. (If you know, you know. If you don't know, let me tell you.)
We still don't know when Season 3 will drop, but rumour has it may be in December 2023 – a whopping 22 months after Season 2 premiered.
