Monster Hunter Wilds Update Drops This December With Major Performance Upgrades And The Return Of A Long-Lost Monster
After a decade of detours, the scene is back on blast — get ready to party like it's 2014.
PlayStation ran a jam-packed State of Play in Japan, and the Monster Hunter Wilds crowd definitely ate. The fourth free title update drops December 16, and it brings back a deep cut: the Giant Halberd Dragon, Gogmazios, making its first appearance since 2014’s Monster Hunter 4: Ultimate. That’s a decade-long nap for a fan-favorite nightmare.
What’s actually in Title Update 4
- Gogmazios returns for a new hunt (Capcom is calling it an Elder Dragon)
- Expanded endgame content (the stream called them "additions to the endgame")
- Seasonal event(s) — the State of Play said "events," the tweet says "event," so expect at least one
- Weapon buffs
- Performance improvements
- And "more," because of course

Capcom is saving some details for a dedicated showcase
There’s more coming, but Capcom is holding it for its own stage. The Monster Hunter Wilds Steam page says an early-December Monster Hunter Showcase will share update news and also dig into Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection. No exact date yet, but with TU4 landing on December 16, expect that stream in the next few weeks.

If you tuned into the State of Play waiting for a Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts reveal, the "beloved series" tease was actually Octopath Traveler 0. Not the curveball many were hoping for, but that’s the one.
