Minnie Mouse is boarding the mayhem for Screamboat 2: Nothing Stays Dead, as the team behind the Mickey Mouse horror comedy brings her into the blood-splattered action.

Because the universe has a sense of humor, the day a trailer drops for 'Minnie’s Midnight Massacre,' we also get word that the team behind 'Screamboat' is cranking up a sequel that brings their own take on Minnie into the bloodbath. Yep: 'Screamboat 2: Nothing Stays Dead' is happening.

Quick refresher: what was Screamboat?

The first movie followed a troublemaker mouse picking off New Yorkers on a late-night ferry, turning a chill commute into a very not-chill slaughter. A ragtag bunch of passengers tries to stop the creature after it develops a craving for tourists. It ended on a cliffhanger that teased another murderous public-domain icon waiting in the wings: Minnie.

The sequel plan

Director Steven LaMorte, who previously twisted the Grinch into a slasher with 'The Mean One,' is back at the helm. He says the new film will pick up directly from that tease and go bigger and bloodier on the comedy-horror set pieces.

"I’m thrilled to announce the sequel to our bloody horror comedy. We had so much fun bringing these iconic characters to life with a bloody twist, and I look forward to returning to the world of Screamboat to create even more miniature murder and mayhem."

Who is squeaking back?

David Howard Thornton — Art the Clown in the 'Terrifier' movies and the guy who played the horror Grinch in 'The Mean One' — donned the Steamboat Willie-style mouse suit in 'Screamboat.' He is expected to return for 'Screamboat 2: Nothing Stays Dead,' but that is not officially locked yet.

Temper expectations

The team says the sequel is set to begin development in 2026. Translation: this will take a minute before cameras roll.

  • Title: 'Screamboat 2: Nothing Stays Dead'
  • Director: Steven LaMorte ('The Mean One')
  • Setup: Continues from the original’s cliffhanger and brings Minnie into the carnage
  • Tone: Even bigger gags and nastier laughs
  • Star: David Howard Thornton expected to reprise as the Steamboat Willie-inspired killer, not officially announced
  • Timeline: Development slated for 2026
  • Context: On the same day a different Minnie slasher trailer drops, this sequel confirms Minnie will be part of the 'Screamboat' mayhem too

If you dug the first movie’s audacity — turning a black-and-white icon into a ferry-stalking slasher — this sounds like more of that, plus Minnie joining the party. Just be patient; nothing stays dead, but it might stay in development for a bit.
