Mike Flanagan Wraps Carrie Series — When Will It Premiere?
That’s a wrap: Mike Flanagan has finished shooting Carrie, an eight-episode adaptation of Stephen King’s classic, with the telekinetic terror now barreling into post-production.
Mike Flanagan just called cut on his take on 'Carrie'. The Prime Video series quietly shot all summer and into fall, and now it is officially in the can. If you are a Flanagan fan, a King fan, or both, this is one to watch.
What just happened
The show wrapped production after a June 16 start, with Flanagan confirming the final day of filming on October 24. This is the eight-episode 'Carrie' series he announced last October, developed with Stephen King and headed to Amazon's Prime Video. Flanagan is executive producing alongside his longtime producing partner Trevor Macy.
Flanagan marked the wrap by posting a photo of his on-set chair (covered in signatures from collaborators) and a note about the experience.
"Our last day of filming on Carrie. This has been one of the best experiences of my career, one of the very best ensembles I have ever worked with, and already one of my favorite projects ever. Cannot wait for you guys to see what we made."

So what is this version about
This is billed as a modern rethink of King's story. Carrie has grown up isolated with her controlling mother, then gets dropped into public high school after her father's sudden death. A bullying scandal rocks the town, her telekinesis starts to surface, and things head toward the kind of finale you do not forget.
Where this fits in 'Carrie' history
King's novel hit shelves in 1974 and spawned Brian De Palma's 1976 classic film. The franchise went quiet for a while, then came the 1999 sequel 'The Rage: Carrie 2', a 2002 TV remake, and a 2013 theatrical remake. Carrie herself has been played by Sissy Spacek (1976), Angela Bettis (2002), and Chloe Grace Moretz (2013). There was chatter in 2019 about an FX limited series, but that never materialized.
A couple quick notes
Flanagan working directly with King on an eight-episode Prime Video series is exactly the kind of genre swing that makes sense for him. No premiere date was included in his wrap post, but the shoot ran June 16 to October 24, so the handoff to post is happening now. More when Amazon starts the promo drumbeat.
