The billion-dollar biopic Michael has conquered cinemas — so when does it land on streaming?

Starz has set Sunday, August 10 for the streaming debut of Michael, arriving after a lengthy 108-day theatrical run that pushed the biopic past the billion-dollar mark worldwide. The movie first hit theaters on April 24 and held strong long enough to become 2026’s latest box-office juggernaut before making the jump to home viewing.

Michael begins streaming on Starz August 10.

Directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by John Logan, the film tracks Michael Jackson’s rise from the Jackson 5 in the late 1960s through the peak of his 1980s superstardom, culminating around the Bad tour. At the center is Jackson’s nephew Jaafar Jackson, making his feature debut in the title role.

Box office and reception

Michael has cleared $1 billion globally, becoming the year’s third movie to do so after Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 5 and Universal/Illumination’s Super Mario Galaxy Movie. It now ranks as the highest-grossing biopic ever, topping Bohemian Rhapsody ($911 million) and surpassing Oppenheimer.

Audiences have been enthusiastic: the film earned an A- CinemaScore and sits at a 97% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. That momentum helped extend its theatrical life before the move to streaming.

Michael starts streaming on Starz August 10.
