Killed off in Mayor of Kingstown Season 4, Lane Garrison isn’t done with the Taylor Sheridan universe—he says the Paramount+ drama opened the door to his next move, a role in Tulsa King Season 4.

Lane Garrison just pulled the classic Taylor Sheridan universe move: die dramatically on one show, pop up on another. After wrapping his run on Paramount+ drama Mayor of Kingstown, Garrison says he is heading to Tulsa King next. And yes, the way he found out is as blunt as you would hope.

'We have good news and bad news. The bad news is we are killing you. The good news is we are going to find something for you in Tulsa King.'

How Carney goes out in Mayor of Kingstown

In Season 4, Episode 2, titled 'Promises to Keep,' Garrison’s character, Carney, gets killed at home right after taking care of his dad. The shooter is a Colombian national tied to the earlier attempt on Bunny’s life (Tobi Bamtefa). Carney’s death lands like another gut punch for Mike McLusky (Jeremy Renner) and puts even more pressure on the prison side of the story.

Garrison says filming that sequence got to people. He described the set as emotional, with crew members actually tearing up while they shot his exit.

What Garrison thought would happen vs. what actually happened

Garrison admits he expected a very different arc after Kareem (Michael Beach) was killed. In his head, Carney would step into those shoes, climb the ladder, maybe even end up warden, with all the moral rot that would come with it. Instead, the hammer dropped in Episode 2. He’s not bitter about it; he just thought he was on a different track.

Full circle after Prison Break

He also clocked the symmetry of his career: he first made noise on Prison Break, and here he was years later playing a guard on the other side of the bars. He called it a kind of full-circle moment and said getting to go out cleanly and say proper goodbyes mattered to him.

So, about Tulsa King...

Speaking to TV Insider, Garrison confirmed he will appear in Tulsa King Season 4. That is how he says the producers framed it when they told him Carney was done: finish one Sheridan show, jump to another. He also teased reuniting with Michael Beach over there and joked, 'If I die, I’m not doing it.'

Small industry wrinkle here: he specifically said Season 4. Make of that what you will, but the takeaway is clear — Sheridan is moving Garrison from Kingstown to Tulsa.
