We are somehow already at the penultimate week of May I Ask for One Final Thing?, the sneaky 2025 standout that keeps overdelivering. It is a 13-episode run, Episode 12 lands next, and yes, it is shaping up like a first season with a second already in the works. Not ready to wave goodbye yet.

The show is quietly crushing it

This one started as a relatively under-the-radar manga, but the adaptation’s mix of sharp humor and clean plotting has turned it into one of 2025’s bigger anime surprises. It has hovered in the U.S. Crunchyroll Top 10 (via FlixPatrol) and sits at a 7.5/10 on IMDb, with individual episodes consistently pulling solid scores. Again: 13 episodes total, Episode 12 is the second-to-last, and a second season is already being lined up.

Previously on... and what Episode 12 is teeing up

Episode 11, titled 'As These Appear Undercooked, May I Turn Them Into Mince Meat?', moved a lot of chess pieces fast. Dios and Nanaka watched the Vankish army get swarmed by monsters on the way to Falconia, and Scarlet and Alflame jumped in (again) to save them so Dios could finally start his negotiations.

Falconia turned out to be under Terenezza’s influence, but a new family wrinkle popped up: Dios’s uncle showed up and helped break the spell. Meanwhile, the show leaned into a romantic rivalry that has been simmering: Julius and Alflame both clearly have feelings for Scarlet. It is not subtle, even if they are not saying it out loud.

The tactical side: Dios and Nanaka discovered Terenezza is after the Western Holy Gem in Sahasgila, and there are three days on the clock to stop her. Scarlet recruits Diana for the mission, hoping Diana’s powers can come back online in time.

The relationship side: Scarlet calls Julius out for his clingy, possessive streak — the hugging, the hovering — and he laughs it off. Important clarification: earlier, a hypnotized Nanaka put a charm on Julius. His feelings for Scarlet are real, but the spell is basically cranking his behavior to 11. It explains a lot without excusing it.

Episode 12, 'May I Pay Off the Massive Debt My Fists Have Accrued?', heads to Sahasgila. With only two episodes left, expect Scarlet to uncover exactly what Terenezza did to Julius, and for the showdown to kick off now and finish in the finale.
