Dakota Johnson, Pedro Pascal, and Chris Evans all in one movie. What more do you need?

The new season of The Last of Us has started, and with it the talk about Pedro Pascal has resumed. One of the most talked about upcoming projects in the actor's filmography is the romantic comedy Materialists, the second feature film by Celine Song, known for the drama Past Lives.

What Will Materialists Be About?

Lucy works as a professional matchmaker in New York, she is ambitious and successful: nine of her clients have already married. She seems to know everything there is to know about finding the perfect partner for everyone but herself.

When a charming millionaire enters her life, and her ex-boyfriend, who works as a waiter, unexpectedly reminds her of himself, Lucy is torn between them, not knowing who to choose.

As in her debut film, the director's new work focuses on the complex relationships between partners. Don't expect a naive and clichéd romantic comedy from the creator of the sensual Past Lives.

In Materialists, Celine Song will probably tell the familiar story of a love triangle in a new way, as she did in her first film: unconventional, realistic and with a touch of humor.

Materialists Release Date

Materialists is scheduled for release on June 13. The release date has sparked rumors that the film could premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, but unfortunately, Celine Song's new movie is not included in the upcoming festival lineup.

Materialists Main Cast

The lead role was played by Dakota Johnson. She was very pleased with her work with Celine Song: “I am deeply in love with her, and with her as a director, as a filmmaker, as a human,” the actress said.

The charming businessman was played by the viewers' favorite – Pedro Pascal. Little is known about his character except that he is charismatic and indecently rich, but the actor's fans are already calling his character the main green flag in the movie.

The main character's ex-boyfriend, who works as a waiter and dreams of a movie career, acts as a counterbalance to the attractive millionaire. Chris Evans played the role of the struggling romantic.

Recently, the actor has been taking part in more auteur projects: this year, he can be seen in Honey Don't! by Ethan Cohen and in Sacrifice by Romain Gavras. In an attempt to break out of his Captain America persona, Chris Evans seems to have found his niche in independent film.
