Marvel Zombies Season 2 Already Planned — Wait Until You See the New Characters

With Marvel Zombies shambling toward release, Marvel Television head Brad Winderbaum says the team has already mapped out Season 2, with fresh characters ready to join the carnage if it gets the greenlight.
Marvel Zombies is still months away, but Marvel TV boss Brad Winderbaum is already talking like Season 2 is sitting in a folder on his desktop. It is not greenlit yet, to be clear. But the plan is there, the wishlist is there, and the team sounds eager to go if they get the nod.
Season 2: not official, very prepared
In a chat with Nerdist, Winderbaum — longtime Marvel Studios exec, now head of Marvel Television and also an EP on Ironheart — said the first batch of Marvel Zombies was originally stuffed with more characters than the show could handle. Rather than toss in glorified cameos and hope for the best, they cut the roster and saved those threads for later.
"We have got a ton of material we are ready to do as the next thing. There are other characters that did not show up in this that we were dying to have. Hopefully, they have their moment in the next one if we get it."
Translation: they mapped out what a bunch of heroes were up to in the corners of this world, realized the season would choke if they crammed everyone in, and put those beats on ice for a potential second run.
- Season 2 is not ordered yet, but the writers have outlined several pieces of it.
- If it happens, expect new characters who were trimmed from Season 1 to finally show up.
- Season 1 was originally much bigger; the team cut it down to avoid shortchanging anyone with a blink-and-you-miss-it appearance.
- They already know where those sidelined characters are and how they factor into the larger story.
- Winderbaum is excited to explore them, saying there are still plenty of characters left to play with.
- If Season 2 goes, it would also continue arcs for some of the more offbeat players introduced in Season 1 — including a Blade-Moon Knight hybrid. Yes, Blade-Moon Knight. Inside baseball alert: this is the kind of weird mash-up Marvel Zombies exists to do.
- Marvel Zombies Season 1 premieres September 24, 2025, which is also when that Blade-Moon Knight variant makes his MCU debut.
So that is where things stand: Marvel has a smaller, cleaner Season 1 locked for next fall, a bigger bench waiting in the wings, and a showrunner who clearly wants to swing for the fences if they get another inning.
