Marvel Rivals crashed The Game Awards 2025 with a new trailer, unveiling Season 6 Night at the Museum and confirming Deadpool slices into the roster as the first playable hero on January 16, 2026.

Marvel took a very Marvel swing at The Game Awards 2025: a stylish new Marvel Rivals trailer that sets up Season 6, teases the chaos to come, and finally lets Deadpool crash the party early next year.

Deadpool is the first new hero in Season 6: Night at the Museum

Wade Wilson drops into NetEase's hero-shooter on January 16, 2026 (UTC) alongside Season 6, which is titled 'Night at the Museum'. He is the first playable hero for the season, and the trailer is a slick 2D animated showcase of him bouncing around the roster. Expect quick blades, louder guns, and plenty of winks at the player.

'The Merc and the Monster Hunter. Will the Museum survive?'

The trailer: 2D mayhem, lots of blades, and a few deep-cut faces

Yes, they went full 2D animation for this one, and it pops. Deadpool carves through the frame with his katanas, swaps to his twin Desert Eagles, and absolutely leans into the fourth-wall nonsense. He mixes it up with a grab bag of Marvel faces, including Thor and Cap-Wolf, because of course this game has Cap-Wolf.

How he might play

NetEase has not locked in his role yet. The footage leans hard toward Duelist, which is what most people will expect for Deadpool. If they want to zag, they could label him a Vanguard. The trailer also flashes his superhuman healing factor, which all but screams self-heal in his kit, likely similar to Wolverine's in-game sustain. He could function as a Vanguard with that durability, but the fantasy still reads Duelist.

Elsa Bloodstone shows up at the end - and she is next

Stick around for the stinger: Elsa Bloodstone steps in, immediately shoots Deadpool in the head, and shows off dual weapons of her own. She is confirmed as the second playable addition, arriving with Season 6.5 after Wade's debut. The game's official messaging has already paired them up as 'the Merc and the Monster Hunter'.

The story hook

Quick lore pass: The Collector recruits Deadpool and Elsa to stop Gambit and Rogue from lifting prized artifacts. Deadpool is skilled, but he is also Deadpool, so he triggers a full-on intergalactic disaster. That mess is the spine of Season 6's 'Night at the Museum' storyline.

Before all that: Season 5.5 goes live today

Season 5.5 launches December 12 (UTC) with winter-themed additions and festivities. Rogue joins the roster with this update and she is a Vanguard. Deadpool and Elsa's exact roles are still unannounced, so we will see whether NetEase keeps them both in Duelist territory or flips one into Strategist or Vanguard.

  • Dec 12, 2025 (UTC): Season 5.5 launches - winter update plus Rogue (Vanguard)
  • Jan 16, 2026 (UTC): Season 6 'Night at the Museum' begins - Deadpool becomes playable
  • Season 6.5: Elsa Bloodstone arrives after Deadpool (teased in the trailer)

Short version: slick trailer, good first read on Deadpool's kit, and a fun setup that lets him break everything in a museum. Feels on brand.
