Marvel Races to Scrub Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Leak — But the Big Twist Is Already Everywhere
Shock return: [SPOILER] is back in Avengers: Doomsday, setting up the MCU’s next seismic showdown.
Well, that did not take long. The theater-only Avengers: Doomsday teaser appears to have slipped online, and Marvel is sprinting around the internet with takedowns. If you are ducking spoilers, this is your cue to bail.
Spoilers ahead.
What the leaked teaser supposedly shows
- The clip started circulating on December 15 and it is very grainy phone-cam territory.
- We see Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) back at the house from his Avengers: Endgame finale — the one after the Peggy Carter dance.
- Inside, Steve holds his child. Then the screen cuts to a title card: 'Steve Rogers will return in Avengers: Doomsday'.
Is it legit, or just very good fakery?
No one has confirmed this thing is real. It is 2025 and AI wizardry can fake just about anything, but this did not pop up in just one place — versions in multiple languages have been making the rounds. Meanwhile, Marvel keeps slapping the uploads with DMCA strikes, which does not prove authenticity, but it sure does not calm the speculation either.
About Chris Evans and the whole 'returning' part
For what it is worth, Evans shut this down earlier this year. In an Esquire interview, he brushed off the constant comeback rumors:
"This always happens. I mean, it happens every couple years - ever since Endgame. I have just stopped responding to it. Yeah, no - happily retired!"
So if the teaser is real, either Marvel is playing coy, or there is some multiversal/timey-wimey footwork going on. If it is fake, it is a very committed one.
Where you can actually see the teaser (without chasing leaks)
The plan, reportedly, is to run Avengers: Doomsday trailers only in theaters ahead of James Cameron's Avatar: Fire and Ash. There is also chatter that Marvel has four different teasers lined up, each spotlighting a different character, rolling out over the next month. That is an oddly aggressive theatrical-only marketing strategy, but it fits the whole secrecy vibe.
The movie, in a nutshell
Avengers: Doomsday is dated for December 18, 2026. The headline grabber is Robert Downey Jr. playing Doctor Doom — yes, Doom, not Stark. A casting livestream back in March laid out the rest of the big players, pulling in members of the X-Men, the Thunderbolts, and the Fantastic Four.
Bottom line: a maybe-real Steve Rogers tease, fast-flying DMCA takedowns, and a theater-first rollout that suggests Marvel wants fans in seats to get the first look. Whether Evans is actually back or we are getting bait-and-switch multiverse shenanigans, we should know more once those rumored character-specific teasers start dropping in cinemas.
