Suit up: Disney and Pixar’s Incredibles 3 storms into theaters spring 2028 as Bob Parr, Helen Parr, and their kids gear up for battle.

The Parrs are suiting up again. Disney finally put a date on Incredibles 3, and there are a couple of noteworthy shake-ups behind the scenes. If you have been waiting since 2018 to see this family back in theaters, the clock just started ticking for real.

The date, the team, the plan

On a Disney shareholder call, the company set Incredibles 3 for a theatrical release on June 16, 2028. That lands exactly 10 years after Incredibles 2 and 24 years after the original The Incredibles. Story details are locked up for now, but the creative lineup is not: Peter Sohn, who directed 2023's Elemental, is stepping in to direct. This is the first Incredibles movie not directed by Brad Bird, but he is writing the script and is expected to return as the voice of Edna Mode. No capes, presumably still in effect.

Holly Hunter has already said she expected to start recording her lines in March 2026, so the wheels are clearly turning even if Pixar is not showing any of the goods yet.

How we got here

The first two films were monsters at the box office. The Incredibles pulled in over $630 million worldwide back in 2004 and rode a wave of great reviews. Incredibles 2 arrived in 2018 and more than doubled that haul with a $1.2 billion global total. Fans keep coming back because the pitch still works: Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl trying to save the world while raising a teen, a tween, and a baby who may or may not spontaneously combust. It is a juggle.

What Pixar has cooking

This is just one piece of Pixar's upcoming slate. The studio has Toy Story 5 rolling out this year, with a second Coco movie and a third Monsters, Inc. movie also moving toward the front of the line.

  • The Incredibles (2004): $630M+ worldwide
  • Incredibles 2 (2018): $1.2B+ worldwide
  • Holly Hunter expected to begin recording: March 2026
  • Incredibles 3 theatrical release: June 16, 2028
  • Director: Peter Sohn (Elemental)
  • Brad Bird: writing the script; expected to return as Edna Mode
  • Pixar slate: Toy Story 5 this year; Coco 2 and Monsters, Inc. 3 on the way

Bottom line: a decade-long wait between sequels is a stretch, but considering the last movie cleared a billion, Disney can take its time. Circle the date, dust off the super suit, and prepare for Edna to roast someone with a single syllable.
