Netflix officially announced the project in March 2025, almost a year after the first rumblings that a live-action take was in the works. Despite the franchise's decades-long run (hello, late '60s), this is the first time Scooby-Doo is becoming a live-action TV series. The brand's only prior live-action outings were those two early-2000s movies that got mixed reviews at the time and, predictably, a solid afterlife with fans.
