Two years since its release, the dance remains the most popular Halloween performance.

Summary

  • Almost all of the fall seasons of DWTS have featured Halloween-themed episodes.
  • One couple from season 30 still holds the title of best Halloween night performers.
  • This season has also had fascinating Halloween dances.

It's only been a day since the Halloween-themed episode of Season 32 of Dancing with the Stars aired, and naturally, fans are still buzzing about it. That's not surprising, given that this year's premiere coincided with the holiday itself.

Remarkably, almost every fall season of Dancing with the Stars has featured an episode dedicated to Halloween. Considering that DWTS has spanned a whopping thirty-one seasons, with the thirty-second currently airing, this is a feat in itself. But despite the abundance of Halloween-themed performances, there's only one that fans cherish to this day.

Contemporary Choreography by Iman and Daniella

The previous installment to air on ABC, season 30, featured a Halloween episode, titled Horror Night, that featured exceptional performances, two of which received the highest scores – 40 points. One of those dances remains the ultimate fan favorite.

Iman Shumpert and Daniella Karagach's choreography to I Got 5 on It was the highlight of the night. That unconventional performance stunned the audience and the panel of judges and became the most beloved Halloween dance, whose popularity remains unmatched.

'Nothing is ever coming close to this for me. Not necessarily because of the actual dancing but the whole concept and characterization was INSANE. I'm not from the US and sometimes struggle to stay up to watch the show live. This was one of those times and I was devastated that I missed this,' one Redditor wrote.

To this day, many viewers recall the performers' mastery and finesse with which they approached the dance.

'Daniella is a genius at choreography. Instead of approaching the height difference as an obstacle she used it for ingenious moves!' a YouTube user commented.

Most importantly, fans are seemingly unanimous in that Iman and Daniella's Halloween dance hasn't been challenged yet by any new performance on the show.

'This performance is more iconic than every other number in recent seasons. Nothing else really compares,' another Reddit user observed.

In this light, it is no wonder that the couple went on to win the season.

DWTS 32 Halloween Episode

This season's Halloween week episode featured an electrifying piece of choreography from the entire team of contestants and pro dancers as they rocked the stage to the remix of the Bee Gees' Stayin' Alive and Chris Bowers' Grim Grinning Ghosts.

As in Season 30, there were two couples who received exceptionally high scores – 37. Xochitl Gomez and Val Chmerkovskiy's contemporary performance was perhaps the best of the night. Check it out for yourself!

DWTS 32 will return with the next episode on 7th November.
