Get quizzical: a surging trivia craze is turning pubs, apps and primetime into battlegrounds where brainpower wins big.

Saturday nights are about to get very quizzy again. Lee Mack and The 1% Club are back, and ITV is not just bringing the show back - they are supersizing it with a week-long event and a kids edition on the way. Let’s unpack.

When it returns (and where to watch)

The new season kicks off Saturday 11 October at 8:55pm on ITV1 and ITVX. Previous seasons are already sitting on ITVX if you want a refresher or just like watching adults melt under logic puzzles.

The show’s big flex

Since launching in 2022, The 1% Club has quietly turned into a monster hit. ITV says it’s the biggest original quiz show in more than a decade. It regularly tops six million viewers per episode, has been streamed over 40 million times, and has reached 43 million viewers overall. That’s not niche - that’s national pastime territory.

The 1% Club Rollover: how the special week works

This autumn, ITV is running The 1% Club Rollover - a five-night, primetime stint that takes the regular format and adds a gambler’s twist. Here’s the simple version:

  • It’s the same game you know: those increasingly tricky, common-sense logic questions.
  • Any prize money that doesn’t get won on one night rolls over to the next night.
  • If every pot keeps rolling, the total could build to as much as £500,000 by the end of the run.

ITV is clearly treating it like event TV rather than just another batch of episodes.

'Five nights of The 1% Club and Lee Mack... What’s not to like?'

That’s ITV’s Head of Factual Entertainment, Sue Murphy, doing the hard sell. Honestly, she’s not wrong - it’s the kind of stunt that gets people texting group chats mid-episode.

Bonus round: a kids edition

Lee Mack also told RadioTimes.com there’s a kids version coming this year. He says children tend to do a bit better on the show’s style of problem-solving, which tracks if you’ve ever watched a 10-year-old demolish a logic puzzle while you stare at the ceiling. He also joked about the idea of pitting kids against adults, then immediately admitted the optics of, say, an 11-year-old losing to a 28-year-old bricklayer would make for pretty rough television. Funny in theory, not so much in practice.

The 1% Club is back Saturday 11 October at 8:55pm on ITV1 and ITVX. The Rollover week lands this autumn, across five consecutive nights. Warm up those brains.
