Do we really have to wait two years and two months for the Polin story?

Bridgerton fans keep getting one devastating update after another. This time, it's an official email from various bookstores saying that pre-orders for the Romancing Mister Bridgerton Netflix tie-in book have been pushed from December 2023 to May 2024.

'The publication date has been postponed till May 2024,' reads the letter shared on Reddit by a fan.

Impact On The Show

The Netflix tie-ins are the same Julia Quinn books but with new covers designed after the show. Their releases are usually coordinated with the premieres of their on-screen counterparts.

The Duke and I with the TV tie-in cover came out on December 1, 2020, while Season 1 of Bridgerton debuted over three weeks later, on December 25, 2020. The Viscount Who Loved Me was published on March 15, 2022, while Season 2 landed on Netflix 10 days later, on March 25, 2022.

Assuming the publishers are still following this pattern, Romancing Mister Bridgerton with the tie-in cover should be released and shipped to fans before the Season 3 premiere.

Season 3 Release

Redditors found out from bookstore employees that the exact release date for the fourth book focusing on the romance between Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton, aka Polin, is May 2.

That means the Shondaland story will be out any day in May. Probably the 25th, like the first two chapters, or the 4th, like the spinoff Queen Charlotte, which suddenly turned into another Bridgerton season after taking its release spot. But that's just speculation at this point.

Disheartening News

Of course, the fans are really bummed out about the news. The fact that the book was originally scheduled to be released in December this year shows that we could have had Polin on our screens by Christmas.

But for some reason, whether it's the strikes in Hollywood or something else, the powers that be at Netflix have decided to postpone the premiere, which means that casual viewers may very well have forgotten all about what they saw in Season 2 by the time the new season comes out.

Coupled with complete radio silence from both Netflix and Shondaland, it's just infuriating.
