Lanterns Gears Up For Filming As Aaron Pierre Teases DCU Series Secrets

Filming on DCU series Lanterns has wrapped, Aaron Pierre reveals, calling the HBO production an enormous, grand-scale shoot while teasing what’s ahead for his character.
HBO's DC series Lanterns just hit a big checkpoint: cameras are down. One of the leads, Aaron Pierre, says the season is in the can and sounds genuinely amped about what they pulled off.
Filming is finished, and it was big
In a new Esquire profile, Pierre confirms the show has wrapped. He describes the shoot as massive and says the team knows how long fans have been waiting for a proper Green Lantern story.
"It was an enormous shoot, the whole thing was huge in every way. It has been a long time coming for a lot of fans. We are proud of what we made, and I hope it makes everyone else proud too."
Meet this version of John Stewart
Pierre plays John Stewart, a fresh recruit joining the Green Lantern Corps. He is paired with a seasoned Hal Jordan, played by Kyle Chandler, who is eyeing retirement. Their first assignment together is not a cosmic slugfest; it is a murder case in Nebraska that cracks open something uglier and bigger than it looks. Yes, a grounded heartland mystery inside a space-cop franchise. I am into that swing.
Why Pierre clicked with the character
Pierre says the fun of the Corps is not that they are perfect, it is that they are heroic while still very human. That was his way into John: the guy has flaws, and that makes him feel real.
On set, they kept coming back to how recognizable these characters feel, even while they are flying around with power rings. Pierre jokes that watching the show might make you think you could actually sign up for the Corps yourself, if you could find the application and survive the training. The point is relatability over pedestal-polishing.
