Landman Season 2 Premiere: Release Date, New Stakes, and Everything You Need to Know
Tommy Norris is back as Taylor Sheridan’s Landman charges into Season 2 on Paramount+, turning oilfield grit into boardroom warfare after Monty Miller’s devastating death. The former field fixer is thrust into a brutal corporate arena, primed for a fresh surge of Texas-sized power plays.
Landman is back, and the stakes just moved from the oil fields to the boardroom. Season 2 pushes Tommy Norris out of his comfort zone and straight into the corporate thresher, with grief, power grabs, and a very smart villain closing in. If Season 1 felt big, this one looks meaner, messier, and way more personal.
The lay of the land
Season 2 picks up after the Season 1 shocker: Monty Miller is dead. That rumor mill insisting he was secretly alive? Done. Co-creator Christian Wallace told Variety point-blank:
"When you take one major player off the board, it opens up opportunities for other players and I think that’s all I’m at liberty to say at this point."
With Monty gone, Cami Miller (Demi Moore) is running M-Tex and consolidating power, while Galino’s network tightens around the company. Tommy, the once-rugged fixer turned reluctant exec, gets shoved deeper into a corporate arena built to chew up people like him. Classic Taylor Sheridan territory: blunt ambition, muddy morality, and enough pressure to crack anyone in the room.

What the premiere is setting up
"Death and a Sunset" wastes zero time. Cami plants her flag at M-Tex, and Tommy gets stuck balancing survival against loyalty as the power structure shifts under his feet. The official logline (via Rotten Tomatoes) frames the season around Texas wealth-chasing and Tommy, now a struggling executive, trying to haul his company to the top during a fuel boom. Translation: the game got bigger, and the mistakes got more expensive.
Tommy vs. Galino, round two
Billy Bob Thornton has been pretty open about where Tommy’s head is at. Talking to the Los Angeles Times, he zeroed in on the matchup with Galino (Andy Garcia):
"I would also hope that we explore the weird position that Tommy is in with Andy’s character. Tommy isn’t dealing with henchmen anymore. He knew how to deal with them. But now he’s got a smart guy on the opposite side of the law who is his equal."
He also told The Wrap that Tommy is driven to make this thing work but flat-out terrified about what he is stepping into — and, in his words at the time, if a second season happened, he figured Tommy would drag a lot of the landmen into the mess. Well, here we are.
Cami and Tommy: uneasy allies, combustible situation
Speaking to Deadline, Thornton sketched out the dynamic with Cami: she is new to the oil business, he knows how the players operate, and he is essentially the guide through treacherous terrain. The catch? Tommy’s life just got harder, not easier. Instead of one dangerous job, he has two: run a powerhouse company from the top floor while still being the hands-on landman who knows the dirt under the rigs — all while trying to keep his family intact. Expect a lot of moral math and emotional fallout.
Bottom line
Landman Season 2 looks like a bruiser: tighter pressure, nastier politics, and a hero who might not recognize himself by the end of it. Drop your predictions below — who cracks first, and who cashes out?
