Missing Maxie Jones? General Hospital star Kirsten Storms just shared a promising health update and teased she could be back in Port Charles sooner than expected.

General Hospital fans have been missing Maxie Jones, and honestly, same. The good news: Kirsten Storms just shared a health update that sounds more promising than anything we heard a few months ago. Translation: her return might not be as far off as we thought.

Where Maxie went and why

On-screen, Maxie has been MIA since August after Sidwell poisoned her, which put her in a coma and landed her in a Boston care facility. Off-screen, Storms stepped away to focus on her health and family. She moved from Los Angeles to Nashville with her daughter, Harper, and at the time she was pretty clear that she had wrapped for the year and did not expect to be back until 2026.

What changed with her health

Not long after the move, Storms explained the bigger reason behind it: doctors found a brain aneurysm after she started having new symptoms. She’s no stranger to this kind of thing — she had brain surgery in 2021 to remove noncancerous cysts — and this new diagnosis pushed her to dial down stress and reset her life. By October, her medical team was talking through a possible coiling procedure to keep the aneurysm from rupturing. She also said the move itself helped her physically, mentally, and just in general happiness, which matters.

The latest update (and the hopeful part)

A few days ago, Storms posted on Instagram with the most encouraging update yet: a new neurosurgeon has her in what they’re calling a wait-and-see zone. No immediate surgery, no immediate danger, and continued monitoring for now. She thanked fans for the support, said she’s still figuring out next steps, wished everyone happy holidays, and then dropped the tease GH fans wanted to hear — a possible return to Port Charles sooner than expected.

"My new neurosurgeon put me in a gray zone — I don’t need surgery right now and I’m not in immediate danger, so we’re monitoring. Hoping to see you in Port Charles soon."

So what’s happening on GH while Maxie sleeps?

Maxie’s absence has rippled through the show. Spinelli’s still holding out hope she wakes up. Meanwhile, Nathan West and Britt Westbourne have popped back up, which, yeah, is quite a twist given their exits. Nathan’s been bonding with his son, James, and spending time with Lulu — all of which is basically a drama bomb waiting to go off whenever Maxie opens her eyes.
