Kim Kardashian says someone tried to have her killed — and it wasn’t a stunt. In a raw, tearful moment from the Season 7 trailer for The Kardashians, she recounts a chilling call that hints at a threat big enough to rattle the empire.

So, the new Kardashians trailer does not ease you in. It goes straight to Kim saying someone close to her allegedly tried to have her killed. Not teased, not played off for drama. It lands with that sick-to-your-stomach thud.

The trailer’s big swing

"I got a call from investigators. Someone extremely close to me put a hit out on my life."

In the Season 7 preview, Kim looks rattled in a way that isn’t reality-TV-rattled. We see her crying, flipping through files, and clocking police outside her office. She says she’s terrified and, later, relieved it’s over. No one is named. No official statement from her team. Naturally, the internet is on fire trying to connect dots.

What the teaser actually shows and nods to

  • Her past scares: the 2016 Paris robbery and a stalker case get referenced, along with a more recent incident where a robbery suspect was arrested outside her office in March.
  • The family vibe is frayed: Kendall says everyone’s on edge; Kylie mentions hearing footsteps in her room.
  • Kim still trying to live her life: she heads to court in diamonds, tells Kris, 'I want to be who I want to be,' and the whole thing underlines that the glossy exterior doesn’t cancel out very real threats.

The Kanye wrinkle (because of course)

If your brain immediately flashed back to Kanye West’s 2022 post, you’re not alone. Back then, he claimed Kim had accused him of plotting a hit on her:

"YESTERDAY KIM ACCUSED ME OF PUTTING A HIT OUT ON HER."

"THESE IDEAS CAN ACTUALLY GET SOMEONE LOCKED UP... I'M NOT PLAYING ABOUT MY BLACK CHILDREN ANYMORE."

That was during their extremely public, extremely messy split. Kim pushed back at the time, saying his constant online attacks were more harmful than anything their daughter North might post on TikTok, and stressing she was just trying to protect their kids. A family source also told Page Six that Kanye’s parenting was inconsistent and that he should stop crowdsourcing how to raise his children and actually do it.

Does the new alleged hit plot in the trailer have anything to do with that ancient (and chaotic) chapter? The preview doesn’t say, and neither does Kim. The only clear takeaway is that investigators told her something serious, and the show is about to unpack it.

A darker parallel: Barbie Kardashian is out, and not apologizing

Separate story, but the timing is grim. Barbie Kardashian — a transgender woman convicted for making extreme threats — has reportedly been released from Limerick Prison after serving about two and a half years of a five-and-a-half-year sentence. In interviews cited by the Irish Mirror, she showed no remorse for previously threatening to torture and kill her mother, said she enjoys the impact her actions have on people, and admitted she still has strong urges to harm specific targets and doesn’t trust herself now that she’s out.

During her sentence, she was reportedly segregated and locked up 23 hours a day, which she said wrecked her mental health — while also acknowledging, in her words, that you do the crime, you do the time. She talked about her gender identity, said she’s felt like a woman since childhood, wants full gender-affirming surgery, and even explained picking the name Barbie Kardashian because she loves Barbie dolls and the Kardashians. She claimed she’s only a risk to people she believes caused her suffering. Social clips of her post-release spread on X on October 1, and, yeah, the reaction was fear and outrage.

Where this leaves Kim — and everyone watching

This is one of those inside-baseball reality TV moments that isn’t really about reality TV. Whether Kim ever names the person she says tried to have her killed is an open question. The trailer suggests she feels safer now — or at least that a chapter has closed — but it also underscores how thin the line is between celebrity and danger. Meanwhile, someone like Barbie Kardashian is walking free, saying the quiet part out loud about wanting to hurt people. Safety, justice, mental health — all of it is on the table.

Season 7 of The Kardashians premieres October 23 on Hulu.
