Kelsey Grammer Spills Major Avengers: Doomsday Plot Details
Marvel’s famed secrecy just took a hit: X-Men stalwart Kelsey Grammer dropped major Avengers: Doomsday spoilers in an Entertainment Tonight interview, confirming he’s back as Hank McCoy, Beast.
Marvel usually guards secrets like they are Infinity Stones, but Kelsey Grammer just casually cracked open Avengers: Doomsday during a chat with Entertainment Tonight. If you like your MCU news with a side of spoilers, this one is a buffet.
What Kelsey Grammer let slip
Grammer is back as Dr. Henry 'Hank' McCoy, aka Beast, in Avengers: Doomsday. He tried to play coy about it, but then proceeded to name-drop the folks he shared the set with.
"I don't know how much I'm allowed to talk about, but it was fun to interact with people I hadn't interacted with before."
Translation: crossovers are happening. He says he worked with Chris Hemsworth (Thor), had a 'great time' with Pedro Pascal (who is playing Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic), and after praising Robert Downey Jr., added that he 'sort of' shares a scene with him. That last bit is a spicy tease considering where Downey now fits into this story.
Wait, Robert Downey Jr. is who now?
In a big Comic-Con 2024 reveal, Marvel announced that Downey will play Doctor Doom. Yes, the guy who was Iron Man for more than a decade is now the MCU's Doom. Wild pivot, but here we are.
The X-Men are rolling deep
Grammer is not the only familiar mutant face in Doomsday. The film pulls in a serious lineup from the X-Men side:
- Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier/Professor X
- Ian McKellen as Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto
- Alan Cumming as Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler
- Rebecca Romijn as Raven Darkholme/Mystique
- James Marsden as Scott Summers/Cyclops
- Channing Tatum as Remy LeBeau/Gambit
The actual setup
Avengers: Doomsday brings together the X-Men, the Avengers, the Wakandans, the Fantastic Four, and a new Avengers lineup to take on Doctor Doom. It is very much a 'everyone on the field' situation.
Who is steering this thing?
Anthony and Joe Russo are back to direct, their first Marvel movie since Avengers: Endgame. They are also set to direct the follow-up, Avengers: Secret Wars. On the producing side, the Russos are teaming with Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige for Doomsday.
Release date and where it lands in the MCU
Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase Six.
So, to recap: Beast is back, the X-Men are showing up in force, Pedro Pascal is Reed Richards, Downey is Doom, Thor is in the mix, and the Russos are running point again. For a studio that hates leaks, that is a lot to chew on from one interview.
