Lionsgate drops a fresh look at Good Fortune, Aziz Ansari’s new comedy starring Keanu Reeves and Seth Rogen. Fresh off its world premiere at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, the tale of a well-meaning but inept angel hits theaters October 17.

Keanu Reeves playing a clumsy angel in an Aziz Ansari comedy? Yep, that is a real thing, and Lionsgate just dropped the new trailer for it. The movie is called 'Good Fortune', it will first screen at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, and then it heads to theaters on October 17.

The setup

Ansari stars as Arj, a gig worker grinding it out, while Reeves shows up as Gabriel, an earnest but kind of hapless angel determined to prove that money does not fix everything. Gabriel tries to teach Arj that lesson, it goes sideways, and the fallout is big: he loses his wings and gets stuck on Earth as a human. Now he needs help from Seth Rogen's Jeff… which gets extra messy after Gabriel accidentally swaps Arj's life with Jeff's. The trailer leans into the high-concept chaos of an angel learning to be human while the humans around him deal with the magical mix-up.

Cast, crew, and what to know

Alongside Reeves, Ansari, and Rogen, the movie brings in Keke Palmer as Elena, Sandra Oh as Martha, and Stephen McKinley Henderson as Azrael. If you are wondering how much of this is an Aziz project: all of it. 'Good Fortune' is written, directed, and produced by Ansari, making it his feature directing debut. Inside baseball fans will clock the 'Master of None' lineage too, with Alan Yang producing.

Short version: Keanu in angel mode, Aziz steering the whole ship, and a body-swap-adjacent comedy with TIFF buzz primed to hit theaters fast. Not the combo I expected this fall, but I am not mad at it.
