Kanthony Slow Burn Has Been the Best Part of Bridgerton So Far
Nothing can compare to the slow-burn romance that built up between Kate and Anthony back in season 2.
The first season’s passionate love affair between the Duke of Hastings and Daphne Bridgerton may be a strong favorite among many fans, especially with scenes like the spoon lick, but nothing can compare to the slow-burn romance that built up between Kate and Anthony that just kept getting hotter.
Their chemistry and sexual tension was evident even if both tried hard to deny it, made even better by the enemies-to-lovers trope surrounding their story.
Anthony may have intended to marry her younger sister Edwina, but it was love at first sight when he saw Kate, and her defiance and competitiveness that further drew him to her.
Things began to simmer from their very first encounter when he came across a woman riding alone, and instead of listening to his warnings, Kate took off on horseback and jumped a hedge. Anthony was instantly intrigued and impressed, and so were fans.
The pair tried their best to remain stubborn and headstrong and then came the sweet exchange of vulnerability between the two during that bee sting scene, where Anthony revisited his father's traumatic death and Kate comforted and calmed him down as she placed his hand on her chest to feel her heart.
It was an intense moment that further cemented the feelings between them, although they both continued to fight to keep them below the surface despite more and more moments bringing them closer together.
Their stolen glances and close brushes between him and Kate never halted, even on the day of his impending wedding to her sister, which is when Edwina realizes their feelings for one another and abandons the ceremony.
It’s during this episode that Anthony and Kate finally kiss, a moment fans had been anticipating for what felt like an eternity, and the climatic moment was well worth the wait, but it still wasn’t enough to convince them to try, with both being cautious to love.
It takes Kate being involved in a terrible accident for Anthony to finally accept his feelings for her and make the decision to act upon them, allowing their intense, slow-burn romance to come to a satisfying conclusion as the pair as fans witnessed them begin to explore their feelings and vulnerability.
The writers and producers behind Bridgerton deserve praise for many elements of the show, from the casting to the costumery, but one thing fans will never get over is the brilliantly executed slow-burn romance between Kate and Anthony that stole fans attention above all else every time the pair shared a scene.
Fans are eagerly awaiting Season 3 and the next romance, and wondering if it will find a way to top the intense romance of Kanthony.
