Fans claim that the screenwriters botched the first kiss scene between Kate and Anthony.

It's hard to find a contemporary TV show more beloved than Bridgerton, as Netflix's hit romantic series about young and beautiful aristocrats living in a fictional Regency-era England has managed to amass millions of fans in just two seasons. And while viewers adore everything about the show, some people think it could have been even better if the writers had been more careful in building the tension between some of the characters.

Discussing the second season online, fans voiced their disapproval of the way the first kiss between Kate Sharma and Anthony Bridgerton was handled, arguing that the sight of them kissing without much build-up to it was a little disappointing.

People recalled the way the famous library scene was staged, with the tension between the characters building to a fever pitch, only to be interrupted by an intruder ruining the chances of a perfect first kiss. Fans are sure that if the writers had used the same strategy but allowed Anthony and Kate to finally share a kiss, that first kiss scene would have been perfect.

However, not everyone agrees, pointing out that the whole second season was a kind of build-up to the characters’ first kiss.

Throughout season two, Kate and Anthony were shown struggling to hide their true feelings for each other, so their unapologetic first kiss felt like a reward, not a letdown.

Fans argue that the two lovers were simply tired of questioning each other and kissed without any preliminaries, confirming that they were ready to share each other's lives.

That first kiss wasn't sexy by any means, as the viewer saw Kate and Anthony from a distance, but it was totally worthy of a great love story they were part of. Even the naysayers of the scene agree that changing it to include more build-up could potentially ruin the whole show, as it is already excellent as it is.

Hopefully, the writers will listen to the fans and avoid making the same small mistakes in the upcoming third season.
