Kaiju No. 8 is back for round two, and the hook still slaps: a guy who dreams of killing kaiju becomes, well, a kaiju. It is a clever spin on the classic giant-monster formula, rooted in Naoya Matsumoto's manga and clearly in love with old-school Godzilla DNA. Think Pacific Rim energy, but the guy scrubbing monster guts off the sidewalk gets hit with a parasite and turns into the thing he wants to fight. And yes, that goes about as messy as you think.
Season 2 status: done and dusted
Season 2 premiered Saturday, July 19, 2025, and rolled out weekly on Saturdays. It wrapped on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 11 episodes. If you were waiting for a 12th episode like last season, that ship has sailed.

The setup (quick refresher)
Human cities get hit by kaiju on the regular, so Japan fields a specialized Anti-Kaiju Defense Force with powered suits to fight back. Kafka Hibino swore he would join, but while his childhood friend Mina Ashiro made the cut, Kafka washed out and ended up on a clean-up crew. Then a kaiju parasite attacked him and rewired his body, letting him transform into a kaiju hybrid. He kept it quiet, finally got into the Defense Force, and tried to help without blowing his cover. Season 1 ended with his secret out in the open, and Season 2 leans into the fallout as Kafka tries to prove he belongs on the team even with that monster switch inside him.
Why 11 episodes?
Season 1 ran 12 episodes. Season 2 stops at 11. No trick there; it concluded on September 27. If you were expecting another week, the schedule just did not break that way this time.
