Power at any cost: In Jujutsu Kaisen, the Zenin Clan stands among the big three sorcerer families, celebrated for raw strength and cursed energy — and notorious for a ruthless hierarchy that mistreats or even banishes those who fall short.

Jujutsu Kaisen has a whole family built on strength worship and terrible parenting. The Zenin clan is one of the big three houses in the series, and they care about two things: raw power and cursed energy. Translation: if you are born with less of it, they treat you like an embarrassment or kick you to the curb. Still, when you line up the blood relatives, they’re absurdly strong. Here’s how the 11 Zenin by blood stack up, from least to most dangerous.

The Zenin situation in a nutshell

This clan runs on hierarchy and combat units. The Hei unit is their elite strike team. The Kukuru unit is another internal squad with its own captain. And yes, a lot of these people end up fighting each other. Often fatally.

The power ranking

  1. Mai Zenin

    Sorcerer grade: 3

    Debut chapter: 16

Mai is Maki’s twin, but the strength split did not go her way. She’s not built for close combat and doesn’t have much cursed energy to burn. What she does have is precision: incredible marksmanship and a Construction technique that lets her create physical objects on the spot (yes, including bullets). In the end, her biggest impact is heartbreaking and crucial — she sacrifices herself to awaken Maki’s Heavenly Restriction, which is why Maki becomes a monster afterward.

  2. Chojuro Zenin

    Sorcerer grade: 2

    Debut chapter: 150

We only catch a brief glimpse of Chojuro, but he’s Hei unit material and not a pushover. He manipulates the ground itself in battle. Solid fighter, bad timing — Maki still steamrolls him.

  3. Nobuaki Zenin

    Sorcerer grade: not revealed

    Debut chapter: 150

Nobuaki captains the Kukuru unit, which already tells you he’s not low-tier. His cursed energy is competent, even if it’s basic compared to the clan’s monsters. He ends up on the wrong side of Maki’s rampage, and given how he fares, Grade 2 feels like the right ballpark.

  4. Ranta Zenin

Sorcerer grade: at least Semi Grade 1

    Debut chapter: 150

Another Hei unit member, which puts him in serious territory. Ranta’s signature trick is Paralyzing Gaze — he conjures eyes that lock you up if you meet them. It even buys him a minute against Maki. A minute is all he gets.

  5. Ogi Zenin

    Sorcerer grade: Special Grade 1

    Debut chapter: 138

Ogi is Maki and Mai’s father, brother to the 26th clan head, and a walking case study in resentment. He loses the race for clan leader to Naobito and blames his daughters for it. On paper, he’s terrifying: a master swordsman with heavy cursed energy and a deep bag of techniques. In practice, he underestimates the wrong kid. Maki ends him clean.

  6. Jinichi Zenin

    Sorcerer grade: Special Grade 1

    Debut chapter: 138

The son of the 25th clan head and Toji Fushiguro’s brother. He’s Hei unit-level strong and fights like it. Jinichi’s innate technique, Missile Fists, lets him fire off multiple cursed-energy punches in volley. He’s a serious opponent — just not Maki-proof. She takes him out during the Perfect Preparation arc.

  7. Megumi Fushiguro

    Sorcerer grade: 2

    Debut chapter: 1

Toji’s son and the 27th (current) head of the Zenin clan, Megumi is the first-year with the highest ceiling. He inherits and actually learns to handle the clan’s crown jewel, the Ten Shadows technique. He can run a Domain Expansion, mix his shikigami with cursed tools and hand-to-hand, and he’s notable enough that Sukuna takes a particular interest. Still, as strong as he is right now, there are two Zenin who sit above him.

  8. Naobito Zenin

    Sorcerer grade: Special Grade 1

    Debut chapter: 83

Naoya’s father and the 26th clan head. He’s the original user of Projection Sorcery, and he is blisteringly fast — widely regarded as one of the quickest sorcerers alive, with only Gojo reliably outrunning him. No Domain Expansion, but it barely matters when your speed and taijutsu are that sharp.

  9. Naoya Zenin

Sorcerer grade: Special Grade 1, later becomes a cursed spirit

    Debut chapter: 138

Naobito’s heir apparent until Megumi ends up with the title. He leads the Hei unit and fights like a top-tier antagonist. Yes, he uses Projection Sorcery too, but he isn’t just riding his dad’s coattails — he has abundant cursed energy and full command of his toolkit. And then, after death, he comes back as a cursed spirit. Even so, you can probably guess who brings him down. Maki does.

  10. Maki Zenin

Sorcerer grade: 4 (fights at Special Grade level)

    Debut chapter: 10

Maki is the clan’s ultimate irony. Born with almost no cursed energy in a family that worships it, she grinds her body into a weapon and becomes a cursed tools specialist. After Mai’s sacrifice unlocks her full Heavenly Restriction, Maki’s physique turns near-Toji-level — steel-hard body, unreal speed, and brutal technique. She proceeds to massacre the clan. When the dust settles, it’s basically her and Megumi left standing.

  11. Toji Fushiguro

Sorcerer grade: none (physically beyond Special Grade sorcerers)

    Debut chapter: 66

Toji is why everyone whispers about the Zenin. Born with zero cursed energy, he flips that deficiency into a superpower via Heavenly Restriction. It gifts him freakish senses, curse resistance, and monstrous athleticism. Add sharp instincts and a lethal collection of cursed tools, and you get the Sorcerer Killer — a man only the absolute best could hope to stop.
