Fans hungry for Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 won't have to wait until next year—there's a loophole.

Jujutsu Kaisen is doing the increasingly common anime move: a recap movie that also sneaks in new episodes. Translation: if you are impatient for season 3, there is a legit way to see the Culling Game arc early.

So, what is this thing?

The new compilation film is titled Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution -Shibuya Incident x The Culling Game Begins. It bundles a recap of season 2’s Shibuya Incident arc with the first two episodes of season 3. It opens November 7 in Japan and December 5 in the US (per Crunchyroll).

If that sounds familiar, it should. Anime has been using these hybrid theatrical drops to bridge the gap between seasons for a while now.

Yep, this is part of a trend

Solo Leveling did it late last year with its ReAwakening movie, which gave fans an early peek at season 2. Demon Slayer has been doing the recap-plus-new-episode package for multiple years. And Attack on Titan went even further: its Final Chapters theatrical cut was pitched as the definitive version, complete with visual upgrades and beefed-up sound, specifically for the big screen. Inside baseball, sure, but it works—keeps momentum going and puts something new-ish in theaters between TV drops.

Season 3 timing and what it covers

Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 premieres January 2026 and adapts the Culling Game arc—basically a sorcerer battle royale that erupts across Japan. The movie gives you the opening two episodes of that arc early, wrapped in a Shibuya Incident refresher so you are not lost when the chaos starts.

  • JJK compilation film: November 7 in Japan, December 5 in the US
  • TV return: Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 lands January 2026 (Culling Game arc)
  • Also in winter 2026: the final part of Fire Force and Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End season 2, the follow-up to what is currently the highest-rated anime of all time

Bottom line

If you want a head start on the Culling Game and do not mind the recap packaging, this movie is your early access pass. If you would rather wait, the full season is right around the corner in January—but winter 2026 is looking stacked either way.
