Punisher star Jon Bernthal is swinging into the MCU with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, extending his antihero’s story — and he just sent Tom Holland a heartfelt, brotherly message ahead of their on-screen team-up.

Jon Bernthal is officially stepping into the MCU with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and he just gave Tom Holland a public fist-bump that doubles as a tidy status update on where this thing is headed.

Bernthal’s shout-out to Holland

Bernthal posted a blurry photo of the two of them on his Instagram and kept the caption simple and sincere:

"My man @tomholland2013 is one of a kind. I'm so proud and in awe of the Man you have become. I love you brother. Honored to be rolling with you once again."

Brotherly and a little chest-thumpy, sure, but it fits the moment. This movie marks Bernthal’s first official MCU appearance, folding his Punisher into the big-screen continuity and continuing that story in a very public way.

What the new trailer teases

The first full-length trailer dropped recently and, yes, it flashes a quick look at Spider-Man going toe-to-toe with Punisher. It’s a blink-and-you-miss-it tease, but it did exactly what it needed to do: light up the fanbase for one of the most heavily anticipated characters to crash into this corner of the franchise.

Where the story picks up

Holland is now heading into his fourth Spider-Man film, and Brand New Day picks up right after No Way Home left Peter in brutal isolation. The world has forgotten Peter Parker exists — including the people closest to him — and this next chapter leans into the fallout while new threats start circling.

Who is along for the ride

Release date

Spider-Man: Brand New Day opens in theaters on July 31, 2026. Expect sparks when Peter Parker and Frank Castle finally share the frame for more than a split second.
